If we knew the truth then the world governments would lose control, they probably already know and just aren't telling us.

Thousands upon thousands of historical tales across all cultures of interaction with nonhuman beings, and those are all just "made up," but put us on the galactic quarantine list for a couple millennia and we're pretty sure there's a good chance we can find somebody out there somewhere.

GfK They've probably just found a rock on Mars that looks like a knob

Probably been mistaking their own reflection on the screen.

I'm still waiting to see the first moon based hotels become reality. McDonald's would probably set up there too, an addition to their menu would probably be the McClanger.

I can think of much better things t spend $35m on, but if people have the money to waste, why not. I doubt that they'll find anything useful.
"Oh look! a similar planet that might have life!" We should send them a message that should arrive about 2m years after humans n earth have died out...

Might be interesting though.

Its $100m

If new technologies come from it, its a win/win. And its for Science too.

Apparently there is a NASA announcement tomorrow - rumors circulating that their big-ass telescope (not Hubble - the other one) has found "Earth v2".

Get in... Earth V2... Also known as Kepler-452b!

Ive just read about it and it is indeed just like ours, apart from the fact it seems its bloody huge, orbits next to a dying star thats probably boiling any water off the surface and could be going through a possible runaway greenhouse effect.

Just like home then!

But here's the bit I love:-

"So in reality they have no idea what this planet is made of: It could be rock but it could be a small gassy ball or something more exotic maybe."

Mmmmm Death Star maybe?

I am taking the piss and the science is brill behind it all, but I'm really looking forward to the day when we can have a proper look at these worlds... Thats if I havent been checked out of my auld mortal coil of mine!
