This.

I tried to get into my Halifax credit card account recently, using a combination of my password (which I'd forgot), and my "memorable word" (which I'd forgot).

It gave me the option to reset just my password, or my password AND memorable word. I chose the latter, given that I'd forgotten both of them.

So I set them both to something I thought I had a hope in hell of remembering. But wait, your password doesn't contain a capital letter. Oh, now your password must contain at least one number. FFS. NOW my password must be at least six characters long. Jesus. OH BY THE WAY it can't be any password you've used for any of the last five fucking passwords. SHEESH!

After resetting both my password and memorable word, I again attempted to log in. Nope - it still says they're wrong... only I'm fairly sure they're not, because I only just set them - I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO FORGET THEM YET!

So I reset my password and memorable word again - observing the "can't use one you've had before" rule. I had to do this FOUR TIMES, with the same result each time - the site does not recognise ANY password I try to set! And I've fiddled with my memorable word so many times I've no fucking clue what it is again.

Because of all this tomfoolery, upon trying to log in, the Halifax site now gives me a reference number and insists I call them for "further security checks". Well fuck my life and call me Donald if their automated system does not recognise the bloody reference number the site gave me.

Why, God?? WHY?!!

Because their whole system is about as useful as a one-legged man in an arse-kicking contest, it attempts to put me through to an 'advisor' - presumably somebody who lives in a cardboard box under a bridge on the outskirts of Delhi. And the best part? I'm now in a fifteen-minute queue.

THE VERY THING ONLINE BANKING WAS MEANT TO FUCKING AVOID! >:|

SoCoder passwords needn't be complicated, but ... Just in case ... Probably best to keep it unique to this site.
As with any database storing your passwords, if it CAN be hacked, it probably already has!!

Never trust that your password is 100% secure, and always try to make them unique.

Passwords are a pain though... Remember all them years ago as a kid watching some high tech movie where they were all banging on about "Needing the password", and you'd sit there thinking... I wish I needed a password to do mint stuff.

Then when the days arrive YOU need passwords, it's like... I'm sick of bloody passwords.

It's a bit like shaving I suppose!

Not to worry, I can't buy any ios apps through my phone because I'm not sure of the spelling of my three security answers and there appears to be zero way of resetting them. Even though I have full access to my itunes account from my phone because I regularly log in to the store and download free apps USING MY PASSWORD. Idiots!

When I set up my Mac, I used my iCloud password.
Later, I changed my iCloud password.

Now whenever I do anything on my Mac it asks for "a password", and I have to try BOTH, because I'm not 100% sure
which bloody one it's asking for!

... And half the time, it isn't sure, either!!!

The trouble with memorable words and answers is that -

a) You can't remember them
b) If you do remember them, you can't remember what case they are in eg - is my dog's name "fred", "Fred" or "FRED"?
c) If you get it wrong, they ask for an email address - I've had a fair few over the years, some of which are no longer active or associated with me. Now which email did I actually use to sign up with?

FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!

I love them memorable questions... "For extra security on your account, please choose two and answer from the following questions":-

Whats your date of birth? <--- Everyone thats everyone who knows me knows that
Whats your first pets name? <--- Everyone thats everyone who knows me knows that
Whats you mothers maiden name? <--- Everyone thats everyone who knows me knows that
What is the name of the school you attended? <--- Everyone thats everyone who knows me knows that
What colour are the pubes on your balls? <--- Well, aye, I suppose I could cheat there and say orange!

And when you dont fill them in... You always get that bloody message popping up saying you havent secured your account yet!

IF I DO FILL THEM IN IT'LL STILL BE THE BLOODY SAME!!!!

PISS OFF!!!!
