If at first you don't succeed, try again, and again, and again, and again, and again... Linkage

You'd have thought KITT would be a Veyron or a Murceilago or a Zonda CCX or something modern and cool.

I'm gonna be honest, take away the turbo jumpy stuff... But KITT is pretty much nearly here, so, I cannot really get that aroused by a new Night Rider! Is there something wrong with me or what?

It's like Bond gadgets... Once they were pretty shit hot high tech gear, but, we live in a world with pretty shit hot high tech gear now on a consumer level...

Q: Bond, M tells me your after a new work phone, here, take this, it's the BSA-MP1000, its got a flash light, GPS positioning, you can start your car with it, it can be used alongside the BSA-D1500 drone, but the beauty about this model Bond is that it's 100% impenetrable without the pass code so no government on the planet, not even us, can decrypt it... What do you think of that 007?

Bond: It's alright Q, I'm good, got an iPhone 6, £30 a month on EE, tell M he need'nt worry!

Dee do da deeeeeee, da dooo doooooo!!!

£30 a month on EE, with the price of the phone? He'll barely get any talk time, let alone data allowance!!

I wonder if KITT will be road-legal with the airbag disabled? Cos that bugger's bound to go off with the jolt from landing after a turbo boost.

I know it's legal over here, that's what makes it possible to MOT a car with a custom boss-kit fitted; I'm not sure what American law lets you get away with though but we must not think of those things incase it kills the fantasy.

I thought they'd changed the airbag law?

But yeah, they give rifles to toddlers in America so I can't see they'd be too fussed about a non-working airbag.

GfK I thought they'd changed the airbag law?

I've heard that from some people but then heard other stories from the Billy-boys that congregate along coastline strips etc.

I know I still see many older cars with boss-kits but have not yet seen any recently new cars with that fitted, maybe they have changed the law on cars of a certain age in the same way that they changed the law on air-horns and side-repeater indicators. I'm not completely sure, I'll ask when I next take my car to the MOT centre if I remember to.

I've just found this article on boss-kits from 2013 that suggests as long as the airbag light is not on then it is MOT friendly.

Apparently, as of 2012, if the airbag light is on it'll fail the MOT. The light WILL be on if you've removed the airbag.

If the steering wheel doesn't have an airbag (and has not been designed for an airbag, like a lot of chav aftermarket wheels), the MOT tester will be looking for the light.

You can't just blank off the light or remove it, either. because then it won't light up when the ignition is switched on and it'll still fail.

You can fool the ECU into thinking the airbag is still there by putting a resistor across the plug, I don't know how many Ohms it needs to be but there should be plenty of info on the Billy-boy sites.
