Anybody know about telescopes? My 7yr old is going astronomy mad and demanding a telescope but I don't want to get a shit one that you can't see anything with.

Not really... But... 2 secs! ---  A mate of mine got one of these for Christmas a couple of years ago... No idea of name or model, just pulled the pic off facey... We've been thinking about getting one too, did quite a bit of research last year. For the price Dobsonians are the best bang for buck, also get one with at least a 6" aperture (more the better). Dont buy one which says its got 10000x zoom, its just marketing. Thanks... I quite like the look of this one: https://www.scsastro.co.uk/catalogue/orion-skyquest-xt6-classic.htm Been looking at some videos captured through it and it's enough to see a bit of detail as far as Jupiter and Saturn, and well within price range. |
