Unfortunately, owning a Mac doesn't foolproof your system from the types of idiots that happily install any/all random sounding bittorrent clients that they can find.

The reason Macs have traditionally been "foolproof" is because there were less fools using them.

So hang on!... Apple doesn't let unauthorised apps onto their stores, so that must mean that BitTorrent for Mac must be from a dodgy download site then!?.

Not necessarily. I can build an app for Mac in GLBasic and distribute it freely without using the AppStore. Nothing dodgy about that.

There's no less risk downloading for Linux or any other OS nowadays. If twats want to create and distribute a virus they will and can. Nobody is safe anymore. The days of "Holier than thou safety" are long gone. Look at the recent Linux Mint fiasco. The official download was hacked at source and infected, as well as the accounts of Linux users.

GO back to pen and paper, scrap these new-fangled computer gizmo doo-hickies!

Oh OK, I just thought that because of how iOS apps are vetted.
