|edit| Isn't $50,000 the cost of just three aspirin in America? I've heard that even the basics cost stupid money.

Hopefully you can get this all sorted swiftly, because the longer it drags on, the less likely it is you'll see your preferred outcome.
Court/Pruffeshunal battles are never fun. Just keep bashing away until something worthwhile seems doable.

When I bought my first house, the solicitor was a complete nightmare... Her and the firm were recommended too!

They lost the cheque for my deposit... Twice!

Give them my mobile number... Mmmmm... Five times or something because they said they never had it.

Had to chase the searches up constantly, because they said they hadnt come back... Then they recommended I pay £50 insurance on the searches and they could continue with the sale... So I paid, literally 24 hours later... The searches came back, just like that!

It was a pain because I was buying the house off a mates sister and her boyfriend, and they had been let down a few times off other people. They were desperate to sell the house because the people they were buying their next house from was getting impatient, which meant, they were impatient too.

Now Gillian, my mates sister, used to run me down to the solicitors office as I couldnt drive at the time, she took me down when I went to sign the contracts... All signed off, I got back in the car, I was relieved, she was... Thought... Thats it, all done, let it spin down and voila... Dabzy new house, no more grief, she told her sellers I'd signed the contracts... Everyone happy!

Nah, not in the land of solicitors...

I was at work, in Hemlington in Middlesbrough, just working away and my phone went... Gillian... Thought "Oh, it must've gone through"... Answered... Absolute hell on!!!

Apparently, her sellers solicitor phoned MY solicitor asking how far I was with the application, and my solicitor told their solicitor that, and I quote "I was no where near... I hadnt even signed the contracts yet"

As you can imagine, Gillians seller went berserk, Gillian went mad, and there's little me like "Eh?" :/

So I told Gillian, I said "You took me down to sign the contracts, they are bloody signed"... Her seller give her a week or they were dropping the sale, thus, my new house was up for a burton as well. So, I said to her, take me down tonight, come in and we'll see what the fuck is going on!

So the pair of us went down, walked into the office and I said to the receptionist "Hiya, I'd like to see Angela Thompson please", the receptionist turned around and said "She's not available"... So I said "The thing is, she's probably lost me my purchase of a new house, so, what we're going to do is sit over there and we arent going to leave this office till we see her"

We took a seat, 10 minutes in, the receptionist calls us up saying Thompson will see us... We walk in... There she is behind her desk with a cheery "Hi Michael, can I help?"... I said "Yep, first off, you can help by not lying to my sellers sellers solicitor saying I'm nowhere near and havent even signed contracts when you know perfectly well that I have, whats that about, no really, what is that about?"

She turned around and said "I've never such a thing"

Now, this Thompson must've thought Gillian was my girlfriend, within a split second after she said that... Well... She knew the game was up... Gillian opened up, both barrels at her.

I just stood there watching this woman shrink behind a desk!

It was great like... When Gillian was finished, she turned around to me and went "Right Michael, we're going", then turned around to the now shit scared solicitor, pointed at her and said "Sort it"!!!

I said my tara's, and we left... I eventually moved in to the new house... But what a frigging nightmare!

Solicitors, they are the biggest bandits going!

The only cunts worse than solicitors and estate agents are funeral directors/arrangers. Went through no end of shit last year with all of those money grubbing bastards.

The irony of it is, of course, if they weren't complete bastards, they probably would never have gotten that far through the legal profession in the first place.

When I got divorced 15 years ago, my then-soon-to-be-ex was a complete and utter bitch about everything and made it all as difficult as possible. So we went to court (for the first of many times) and she was sat there with her solicitor. Mine was nowhere to be seen. The time for the hearing arrived, still no solicitor. They moved the slot back ten minutes, she still didn't arrive. In the end I had to go into the court room and fend for myself, against a bitter ex and a grasping little fucker of a solicitor who I would have put in intensive care in any other circumstances.

Came out of court, looking for blood.

Went storming round to the solicitor's office demanding answers; "oh, she left a couple of weeks ago". Turned out she quit her job because they wouldn't give her time off to go on holiday. Instead of my case being passed to somebody else.... it wasn't. As a result, I was left standing in court, by myself, looking like a complete cunt.

Had little choice to stick with them as they were the only firm of solicitors within ten miles. I got through six or seven solicitors in the two years the case dragged on for.

Motherfucker who owns the company has a massive detached house. With a swimming pool. Hope the fucker has drowned in it.

@GfK That really does fucking suck.

Could you not have sued them for legal malpractice or something?

Probably, but I had more pressing matters at the time, like offloading the selfish bitch that had been destroying my life.

Sorry to hear you have such an imept lying arse of a lawyer Kuron. Is there some lawyer arbitration service in your country where you can point out the lawyer is incapable of representing the facts as you see them (level 3 bed sores instead of level 1 seems pretty simple to amend). Hope you get it resolved soon.

I've my first meeting with a solicitor about a drunk idiot that rear ended my car, full of my family, on a blind bend and nearly took us all out. Fingers crossed it goes well, I was only 3rd party, fire and theft so I've to chase the little arse for compensation myself.

Happy coding!

If there is, and they're anything like the UK's legal ombudsman, you'll get just as much joy complaining to a brick wall.

I got overcharged by a solicitor, and after much arguing, complained to the ombudsman, and they wrote a letter saying, in a nutshell, "you can send us evidence to support your claim if you want, but TBH you're wasting your time as you've no chance". Not in those exact words but that was the gist of it.

Seems like the ombudsman exists because it has to. It's firmly on the side of the law companies.
