I almost invested in the HYDRA many years ago. Never quite got around to it and totally forgot it ever existed until recently.

Got a cheap oled screen from ebay, got it working, then somehow killed it. Don't know how, it was working, I then disconnected it, removed the pins from my arduino micro so I could fit it all inside the nice case, wired it back up, ran the sketch and nothing, the screen is dead after working for a few hours.

I officially give up.

Poor Spinal.

well, turns out it was my arduino that was broke, not the screen. However, putting the stupid thing back together, I cracked the damn thing so no it misses every second line.

So that's the cool little game thingy in the bin and a good far too many hours work down the toilet.

Anyone got any suggestions for a new hobby?

Balloon animals? Origami? Reading a book? Playing a computer game (or two) - I highly recommend games by a guy that makes them weekly. I can't remember his name at the mo though.

Right, last try, ordered a new screen and arduino pro micro. If I can't put this together without shorting or cracking something then I'm obviously not cut out for this.

Looks a tad lost in there. Nice work though

Was the GG dead or did you kill it? Bad capacitors are often the cause of GG death.

mostly dead, the screen had a tone of dead pixels and apparently the sound made a horrible buzzing noise. The guy apparently gave up trying to fix it.

I actually have a colour tft that looks about the right size for the gg, but I'd need to get a much more powerful processor to use it. 16mhz just can't cut it.

At least this way I won't be crushing the insides to death like with the first version.

The buzzing was definitely the caps failing. Can't do much for a deadish screen though, other than replace like-for-like.

So, nice recycling
