Shifted the minimap to a more minimap like area on the top right.
Also got enemy placements into the game, but they currently only serve as static images. I need to convert spots to spawn points to launch the actual enemy objects, and also manage reversals so the spawn point tile gets removed once the enemy object is killed.. ... If that makes sense!!

But it's flowing really nicely, so far.
One of the most complicated parts was trying to convert one set of grid references to match the screen width, which changes depending on the current resolution. Had to do a whole bunch of complicated maths to get everything to line up.
Bloody resolutions! Grrr...

I should just make games at 640x480, and tell folk to deal with it!!!

Getting closer to the goal.
Got the 99 heart thing working, today, so that the various enemies and flames will kill you.
You can also pickup a couple of the items, too.
There's still a few more items to get working, and then the "3 gems" need to be spread out a little bit more, to make the area worth exploring.
But.. Yeah, game's coming along nicely!

Hmm.. This level generator's become so incredibly complex that I'm getting different levels on Win.exe vs HTML5 targets!!!
Must be a slightly different float, or something, I imagine.
Can't have that..

But, either way, the game's finally starting to get nice and playable.
Hopefully, once the weird number quirk is solved, I'll be able to finish things off, nicely.

Tomorrow will be spent rejigging the titlescreen, organising online scoreboard tables, and then getting everything ready to go.

This week's release is a revisit to an old familiar friend.

RetroRaider - Three Crystals sees our hero "Laura Plat" return to the valley of the ominous caverns.
This time, she's searching for three coloured crystals which are scattered throughout the maze.
Find them all, and you'll unlock further adventures in a giant sprawling map full of levels.

Can you find all the crystals?!
It's time to Raid some Retro!! (..or something..!)

You can Download the game from my Archive, here

Added a player sprite, tonight, and got basic controls in place.
No ball-thwacking, yet, though.
That'll be tomorrow's task.

Spent all day working on this, and it's not quite done yet.

Nearly, but a few niggling issues.

I might also redo the ingame music, as it's fairly repetitive for a long game of golf!!

Hmmm.
I'm currently working on a puzzle game, of sorts, but rather than concentrating on that, I'm instead thinking back to Quadoban, and how much that would work on iOS.

After booting up the Mac, installing the newer XCode and otherwise faffing about for 24 hours, I finally got the test running.
I need to work on screen scaling to fit better, and that entire menu system could do with an overhaul.
.. but otherwise.. that's kinda neat!!

Mmmmm!
Spent most of today overhauling Quadoban to work on iOS.
Controls are a little better, the menu looks more iOS'y, and everything switched from being "Light on dark" to "dark on light".
It's not been a terrible transformation, for once!!

Maybe another day or so working on it, then I'll attempt my first iOS upload since.. erm.. Oh.. SpikeDislike3's 2 years old, already!!

Rollyball

This week I ended up making a generic Ball-in-a-Maze game.
Slight tweak to the usual rules. Once you roll, you can't stop until you hit something.

Seems like a decent enough mechanic, anyway.

Rollyball. Fun game, but I don't like that you only get one chance to solve a level. Idea: start with 3 lives, one life ends when you go off the level or get hit by the flaming asteroids (or whatever they are). You can collect bonus lives randomly placed in levels or by completing several levels in a row without losing a life.

Today, I drawed me a pidgeon!!! (/pigeon)

The game seems to work reasonably well, but I'm going to have to add a bit more peril to the game. Maybe the odd archer, or something?!
Hmm....

Also, I'm going to have to come up with a name for a pigeon, too.

In Pigeon's Treat, the gameplay is a lovely blend between Flappadiddle and Hoppy Bobby.
Simply make your way across the endless landscape, hopping atop the small rotating platforms as you go.
Your bird doesn't quite "Flap", but he does have a nice Yoshi-style Flutter-Jump, which you can use by holding down the Jump button.

Basic rules.

Trying to do a lot of juggling, now.
I've still got tweaks to SoCoder leftover, I'm still writing AGameAWeek, but now I'm also working on iOS, too!!
Things may get crazy from here on!!

View on YouTube

This week's game's coming along nicely.
As Rockford suggested over on Facebook, it's hard to find a balance between the dark atmosphere and a playable game.
I think, after a couple of days, I've finally found a nice way for the game to play.
It's required me to slow things right down, which isn't my normal pace of gaming, but the thing seems to be working well enough.

Meanwhile over on iOS, I'm currently rewriting Letter Lattice to include much more touchscreen suitable "letters", and it seems to be quite playable on the iPhone. Good stuff!!!
.. Thing I hate. iOS refuses to use the full screen's height until you include a "Default-568h@2x.png" image to let it know "Yes, this is for the full screen!".. Silly iOS!!

Busy upload day, today.
Finished off "Monsters Ate My Cheesecake"
Uploaded AGameAWeek to Gamejolt, then to AGameAWeek.com, then to OUYAReview

Then finished off Letter Lattice iOS and uploaded it to Apple.

... sounds like I've barely done anything, but all that fucking uploading.. Sweet Jesus!!
