I think that might just be a Blitz thing.
You're drawing a lot of lines, and doing a lot of trig. .. for Blitz3d..

Yeah, it's blitz's slow line drawing that's doing it. Comment out the line command to see the framerate shoot up.
Blitz3D has always been a bit rubbish at drawing 2D stuff. If you're using.. .. anything else.. worry less about it!

Still doesn't 'jump' off the hills, just falls This is one of those things where I think I know how to do it, but I just don't know how to do it

o Increase player speed by gravity
o Apply gravity to player
o If player hits ground, change player angle to ground angle, keep moving forward at same speed
o If in air, drop angle so that player falls back to ground in forward direction

Why isn't it that simple?

Interesting looking screenshot for that game, I can't play it though, it appears that modern java just wont allow it, nor will it allow the security settings to be lowered.
