Initial impressions.. Seems pretty much identical to Chrome. I'm even getting the same sort of CPUUsage for typical resource-hogging sites. *shrugs*

: Download

^ The AudioTag's default style is identical to Chrome's.
It's like MS just copy+paste the entire bloody thing!

The Edge install has plucked EVERYTHING from Chrome. My bookmarks, my favourites, my recents... .. .. My saved passwords.. ... ...

..
Not sure I like the idea of Microsoft nabbing all my passwords, like that..

Have been using this pretty much exclusively for the past couple of days.
Honestly, it's nothing remarkable, but I think that's probably good, in that "At least it isn't Internet Explorer"!

Once this becomes the default installed browser, I can see my use of Chrome getting abandoned.
One downside, though, and I'm not sure if they'll fix this up, is that Edge was actually really alarmingly good at finding faults in my dodgy code style, with the little console.log coming up with all manner of little quirks that Chrome and Firefox would happily ignore..

Hmm...

Also, it crashes intermittently when visiting TweetDeck, but I think that may be more to do with how many accounts I have tied up in my TweetDeck display, than anything!

The "Main Beta" version of Edge is now upgraded to Chromium.

https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-gb/download/

The download page no longer makes any mention of Chromium, symbolising just how "normal" the Chromium edition is about to become.

The only reason anyone uses MS browsers is to download a decent one!

I can't help but think that they are using the name "Chromium" due to its similarity to "Chrome"...

... it IS Chrome.. or at the very least, Chrome's underbelly.
Chromium is the name of the browser tech, as seen here.

They codenamed it Edge Chromium to help distinguish the two, but I think (but may be wrong) that the final release will revert to just being Edge.

Christ almighty..

"I'll leave on the analytics," thought me..
"It'll help MS sort out any issues with the browser," thought me..
"My data will be greatly appreciated," thought me..

7 Gigabytes...
Tons of tiny little 4Mb files, taking up SEVEN GIGS of data..

Turn it off!

Noticed, yesterday, that the "proper" version has seemingly been released. (I think!)

If you head to the main Edge download page, the download appears to be the new Edge Chromium.
.. Again.. I *think*.. because it might depend on your Windows version, and any number of other random decisions that Microsoft choose to make before you can download it.

I've been using the Dev-Build as my default browser for since I started this thread, and have had next to no issues. There was a slight quirk, at one point, where hitting tab inside a text box would crash the browser (!!!) but that got fixed ages ago
No grumbles, just usability, and that's all that really matters in a browser.
