Lost motivation

I'm really struggling to code stuff this week, it feels like it's been creeping in throughout the year but has really hit home recently. It feels like I've lost my passion for a lot of things of late and that I'm more just going through the motions almost. Anyone know what can get me out of this funk?

This year's been absolutely awful. Even without my health issues, I pretty much ran out of steam mid-July, and have (as you say) just been going through the motions, ever since.
I'm looking forward to Advent. I'm hopeful that it'll cheer me up, and force me to do something new and unusual, like I did with the knitting, last year.

And then we're onto 2021, and to hell with this godawful fucking year...

What I do is take a good rest. Watch tv, play games, exercise. After a while I get idea's and get inspired.

2020 has been the worst year ever for mental health issues globally - that includes lack of motivation and volition. There's so much uncertainty, fear, paranoia, disinformation, straight up lies and isolation that it's not really surprising. We take for freedoms for granted (as we should) and those have all been taken away from us (for the greater good) which is bound to have unwanted and unexpected physical and mental health consequences.

However, there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel that 2021 will be significantly better in many ways (ignoring recession and increases in unemplyment).

So keep on keeping on. 2021 will be better. But above all else, at least we are all still here

Have kept myself busy with a lot of non-programming things this weekend, including taking some lovely photographs and photoshopping of said photos but mainly shopping for Christmas presents with and for the kids.

Mental state seems to be getting back to some sorta normal, whatever that is, had some nice long chats with old friends I hadn't seen for 20 odd years and things seem to be back on an even keel.

Hope everyone is coping with the current situation. I'm doing my best to ignore it again and try to spend more time outside in the light when possible, that also seems to help a lot.
