Thought for the day..... According to all of the soap powder instructions I have read, it's recommended that you use 1/2 scoop of detergent per full load of laundry. So why not make the scoops 1/2 the size, using less plastics and reducing the risk of using too much. Thus saving you money and the planet.

They do it because the cost of the plastic scoop is minimal compared to the extra moolah they get from people who will fill it and rebuy the product sooner. Same as toothpaste; if you watch toothpaste adverts they coat the whole head of the toothbrush, whereas the instructions say use just a pea size amount (ie <>half the head). Use more than you need and you buy sooner. Kerching for the manufacturers!

There's pyschology at work in these products - people believe the more you use the better the end result.

Don't believe they use psychology? Think again. Supermarkets use them to increase monetary spend from shoppers - whether it be by putting everyday items at the back of teh store so shoppers have to pass through more aisles, to placing certain produts at head/eye height, to the size and colour of packaging itself. All psychology at work!
