Telly finally turned up around 5ish, so have only really had time to plug it in and give it a quick 1/2.
I'll need an aerial if I want tv, but ... probably not, have done without, this long!
The test is the C64-in-a-joystick, hooked up to the Scart to hdmi dongle, hooked up to the 3hdmi to 1 switch, hooked up to the telly.
The result is indeed nice and clear, although the cheap-as-chips scart to hdmi dongle leaves a little ghosting.

It's not "too" noticeable, but once you spot it, it ain't going away.
Folk online seem to suggest that Something like this results in a better output, and I'm sure at that price it does, but ... that can wait.
For now, I'll pretend it's my wonky blind-spot in my eye, and carry on

So, now all I need to do is hook up several hundred consoles and computers of various ages.
I have 2 hdmi in the telly, into which one is plugged a hdmi 3 to 1 switch, so I have 4 hdmi ports.
The telly has a couple of composite/av ports, too, so maybe have my scart switch hooked up to there, then all the hdmi doohickeys be sent to that switch.

Gawd, it's going to be mayhem, I can see it already!!

Given I have 4 mini consoles that are USB powered AND work via HDMI, some sort of USB+HDMI multi switch box would be handy, here..
I wonder if such a thing even exists...?

Oh yeah, it's a telly!! God damnit.
So used to only having Monitors in here, I'm not thinking clearly.
Hooked up the scart output to .. THE SCART SOCKET.. and it's nice and crisp, without any ghosting.
Gud gud.

Now I can have the mini's going to the hdmi switch, and the older computers/consoles going into the scart switch, going into.. the scart socket!!!

Huzzah.
I'll leave doing that for the next day or so.
Tonight, napping.
Tomorrow, eating too many cake adjacent goodies.

Sawwwwwniiiiiik!

The "minis" shelf is pretty much functional, though it's only half dusted, and still kinda cluttered. Gave up and played Sonic for about an hour.
Ooops!!

The shelf below should be Amiga, Wii, Dreamcast and X360.. if they fit..!!
I forgot how much space the Amiga needs, with the compact flash sticking out one side, and the giant USB Mouse dongle in the other!!

Desk is back to being more desk-like, now that places are being found for the previously chaotic mass of crap!
The Switch is currently being plonked in an unceremonious position, along with its Logitech keyboard.
I need to find a more permanent home for those. Maybe bring the actual Switch Dock up here, but then Mum uses that to charge the PS4 controllers!!

Good News
The X360 hasn't Red Ringed!! ... yet!

Bad News
The Woolworths Rechargeable battery pack* for the controller has most definitely Red Ringed, and no longer holds a charge, so has to be plugged in at all times.

Good News
The HDMI cable does indeed reach all the way along the big drawer units from the system to the telly.

Bad News
The Ethernet cable doesn't reach to the router. God damn, I forgot that the X360 didn't have Wi-Fi!!

Good News
My Sonic Generations progress is saved exactly where I left it, a decade ago.

Bad News
My god, the fan noise.. I forgot how bloody loud this thing was.

* so odd to think there was a crossover period when both Woolworths and the X360 both co-existed!

X360 : "Hey, I can't connect to the internet. Please enter the date and time. Is it still 2005?!"

I've not powered on my 360 or PS4 in 2+ years. I'm scared to now, because of all the updates!

It depends on the type of pastic used and UV (light) radiation and heat generally. Other things can affect colour too, including cold and condensation.

I haven't looked at my DC for a while; hopefully it's not too discoloured.

The box of cables, and the drawer of cables, and the other box of cables, and the plastic bag of recent cables, as well as a few random cables from around the room, are all now one single unified drawer of cables.
And the cables did rejoice.
(Except the ones who are dead)

I'll be honest, they're very much just piled in, there. If anyone has any top tips for organising cable drawers, do let me know!

I also have controller issues. Main issue = drawer not organised.

We're not even halfway through re-organising the boxes of clutter that used to fill the room, and already that top-shelf's getting a wee bit heavier than I'd like.

.. and you should see the state of the floor!!

Hmmm.. The ForgetV isn't outputting any audio through the HDMI cable. Tried 3 or 4 cables and both sockets in the TV, but.. nope.. no sound.
I DID get the audio to output via Bluetooth, but, it's a little extra lag than I'd like. Really not great if the end goal is to use it as an emulation hub.
Ho-hum.

Meanwhile, the floor is 83% less chaotic, tonight, after a ton of shuffling around in the older bookcase drawers.

The old old blue drawers will be picked up by the local charity shop on Wednesday.

Three hours later, I was playing Um Jammer Lammy using the PS1Classic, having hacked it with ModMyClassic.
https://modmyclassic.com/project-eris/

Also includes a RetroArch install, so I'll be experimenting with that later.
Need a nap after all that.
Most tech thing I've done in bloody ages, mostly because I was going through thumbstick after thumbstick trying to find a suitable one.

The Amiga is booted!
Really wanted to play Master Blaster, but .. I think that might be a dead disk.
DynaBlaster it is, then.

I'm now down to about 2 or 3 temporary storage boxes, but only one or two shelves. I might have to improvise with the leftovers!!

I never played Master Blaster, I looked it up on YouTube and it looks like quite a good Bomberman clone.

Damnit..
Been learning, tonight.
My A600's Kickstart is v37299, which means it can't cope with an IDE hard drive.
I'm currently sitting here going .. "or should I just buy the Mini...?"

Can you do anything with a compact flash adapter on that one instead?

I'm guessing probably not but felt it worth pointing out a possible solution?

50 quid later..
From AmigaKit

Ordered some new rubber feet. The current ones are.. eeeuuw.. sticky and eeeuuuww..
Ordered a new USB Mouse dongle. This one apparently works with "all" USB mouses, not just PS2 compatible ones. My old mouse was PS2 compatible, but is now knackered, so went in the bin at the start of re-roomification. The current mouse won't work with the dongle, so I'm guessing that's the issue. New dongle, new hope. Plus the new Amiga Mouse classic should be here by the end of the month, and it'd sure be great if it had a higher probability of working!!
Ordered a mouse-port extender because the A600 is a bit cramped, and the USB Mouse dongle has those little screws on either side of the port, which stick out too far for the bloody thing to fit into the A600s port.. ffs!!!
Ordered an A600 branded 4gb compact flash card!
Ordered a mouse mat, too, because why not.

The A600 does indeed have a PCMCIA CF reader, but unfortunately you need to load the driver from floppy, and that inexplicably requires hopping between the EasyADF disk and the Workbench disk. To be honest, it's one of those "fuxake, could they not have put it all on a single disk?" things that irritates me a little more than it oughta!!
Once I get the new mouse thingy, I'll fart about and see if I can find an easier way to boot up to a ready-to-go CF card state.

Now... do I have a CF reader..?
The last time I attempted this, I used the front panel memory card thing on my old PC tower, and those all went to Barry The Scrap Man, last week!!

Let's hope I don't regret spending £50 on things that "might" be useful, instead of £100 on the A500 Mini...
