The cartridge boards have just shown up now, that'll give me an extra kick to crack on with this tonight!

Thank you but I'm really not, I'm far, far below your levels of productivity Jay, you are a coding and designing and musical powerhouse if there ever was one!

Ahhh, that reminds me, I do need to make another hoodie, possibly even for myself at somepoint, kinda like the one I made for layla but more black, with a yellow stripe on the head could be cool.

I was given a sewing machine recently also which I do need to do something with, including figure out how to set it up! Just not sure when to fit it in.

Got some quotes back from the folks at https://thecustomboxes.co.uk/

Ranging from £2.37 per NES box for 100 to £0.95 for 500 (I was thinking only ~ 30 of them)

on 350gsm white cardboard, with lamination

Apparently it's roughly equivalent to cereal boxes so I'll have to grab some cereal on the way back home from work tonight!

That and decide how confident I am in stumping up the cash up to make these beasties.

It's always good to get an idea how much things cost though before going ahead I guess.

Boxes aren't cheap, but those still seems expensive to me. Obviously it will be cheaper in bulk, but that's a lot of moolah.

Perhaps you could issue your first run of games in plain packaging to see how they sell and then, if there's demand, offer an additional run with the new boxes (but at a slightly higher cost to the purchaser).

Guess it depends on the quality of the end-result.
It does sound an awful lot, though.

Just need to populate them with chips and tings

Hoping to find time tonight to sort out the level editor, then it'll be that extra step closer to completion, although I might ask Jay if he has any ditties I could yoink as I'm still rather musically inept.

Oh yeah, I offered to do that ages ago, didn't I.
Sorry. *sigh*. The past few months have been a bit of a blur, if I'm honest.

Any specific channel requests, or should I just go mad and let you fix it up yourself?

It's cool either way to be honest, I think I initially refused with the thought of going down a proc-gen route but I just canne get it working that way yet. No rush on anything of course, happy to re-imburse you

@Rychan - Have you thought about a Kickstarter project for your games? It's a pretty guaranteed market and you can add stretchgoals for better packaging, posters, stickers, mugs and merch etc. etc. As the game(s) are done you won't be promising something you can't deliver.

There maybe well be a kickstarter going on for another game in the coming months, but yeah, that is a good idea. I kinda like exploring all the avenues so I'd best look into it First port of call is finishing the game and getting it working on a board in the NES.

Three odd little ditties.
I'll let you fix up any issues, because.. Well, I don't know what's going on in the engine!
If you'd prefer anything else, just let me know.

They sound amazing Putting plans into action with them.

Also putting together a level loader, after playing with TIled last night.

Uncompressed levels are 644 bytes though which is wayyy too large, with some basic compression I can get em down to 120 - 180 bytes depending on the layout.

Gosh, this would be wayyyy easier in C

Got the level loader up and working this morning before work. I ended up having to pad around some things to make it a little easier to work with so, this level ended up at 255 bytes which is really the maximum I should consider. Perhaps I can compress it down some more?

I forgot to mention that there's a secret hidden game in there, takes up not much space and is hidden under a top secret code (just don't scroll up) My emulator is terrible at recording however so bits look way jankier than they actually do though.

The grey mess is coloured mess on the screen to help indicate how much CPU I'm using per frame on the NES

Just adding a proper scoreboard of sorts.

Hurray for mini games
And if that's not a quick and easy minigame to cram into a tiny gap, I don't know what is

Found some time to sort out the scoreboard a bit more yesterday, just need to re-familiarise myelf with pointers in 6502 ASM again and it should be a lot closer to being ready.

More scoreboard bits and the beginnings of an end level transition have been sorted out yesterday and well, a little bit this morning. I couldn't leave a certain annoying logic bug. Will pick more of it up tonight, it'd be good to be ableto level transtion fully, even if it's just to the same level again!

Pondering over RNG level Design ala Flap Happy and Fancy Free just to save up Memory, then selecting the best of the bunch to use. 19k of code and data space remains which is fine as I've only used 21k so far, perhaps if I set flags to optionally mirror level design it might not look as crazy. We'll see I guess

Oh yes, and a Name Entry screen. yes, that's also needed.

|edit| Gosh ASM is slow to code in, or at least I'm slow with ASM, ASM is quick! |edit|

|edit| If I can whip something up in PHP that mirrors my NES rng stuff then I should beable to port from one to the other |edit|

Sorted out more of the level transition bits last night, just got to fix up my level loader so it can handle more bits properly with regards to it's formatting.

Gosh I wish I had more time to dedicate to this currently.
