Unity switches to ’’per players’’ payment model. Linkage

Just saw this myself, was about to paste in here, needless to say, this is disgusting practice. I wish Flash was still a thing.

Just on the number of installs, so, not including uninstalls either, fuxakes...

Any suggestions for a language I might be able to adapt to quickly, that can post to android, etc fairly easily, I'm all ears, esp if it uses C like syntax.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you can get it running in a browser, you're 37% less likely to get screwed over.
..
.. ... If only I can make any of my games pay-for.
"Donate" is a button rarely pushed by "normal" players..

(If you ever bother to add that button, Jay..)

Good luck! Let us know how it pans out.
I can't remember how far into it Pakz managed to get, back in 2021.

There's also Cocos2D-x
The original iOS release of SpikeDislike was coded in that, but don't ask me anything about what it's like now, 'cos that was over a decade ago!!

So, if you were say, an influencer, who wasn't a fan of a certain dev in the mobile space, you could in theory ask your followers to download a free version of their game to push the game towards the 200k install base, then have unity send them a bill for $0.20 over the limit. I'm catastrophizing here but that's going to have a negative effect on the mobile space in particular.

Thankfully Super Grid Run only made it to ~80k installs over it's life though, so I guess I don't have any worries there.

Yeah, that's really not good...
Hell, even if the influencer WAS a fan, that kind of influx of free downloads would easily be enough to screw you over.
We've seen this plenty with "X person mentions Y website... Y website is crippled for days".
Having it be your dev-tool would be horrific!

I switched to iPad before getting comfortable with Godot. Godot is pretty nice once you get that system of nodes. It has or had some limited systems that would require lots of reading or programming around.

It should be able to be used almost completely from the regular code window too if the user interface is not satisfactory. They update it a lot. So old code and projects would need fixing up or reworking when newer versions get out.

The last thing i did was a bit with voxels. And follow a nice tutorial on those explosion effects where they have a whole workflow interface for every thing you can think of.

Javascript is what I use now.

Is godot more of a visual language then?

It is a sort of free Unity.

You can code underneath with it c# or godot script. Godot script is a kind of lua. Same as coding in unity I guess.

A lot can be done with just the visual editor.

Exit: back then I was having issues with the limited tile and collision system.

As much as I've loved (pun) playing with Love2D, I'm currently investigating LibGdx, more so for Android development since it is Java or Kotlin and runs in Android Studio therefore it should be easier to keep up to date.

That's the plan anyway 😀

Java is nice. I have a book on libgdx which guides you to make a 2d rpg.

They sneakily removed their Terms of Service Repo from GitHub, then added super fucked up new terms.
