We already have the early form of this in Morpheus computer chips developed by DARPA.

We already have shape-shifting metal and shape-shifting fiber.

Totimorphic research has been under development in various forms for years. Frankly the video above of the metal robot escaping a cell is nothing short of terrifying when you consider the potential.

In answer to the question, the most terrifying form I can think of is of a human. Terrifying, but not surprising. Way too much evil in this world.

Dunno but the computer may get rooted.

What's the oldest thing in your bedroom?

Not my Amstrad CPC

I still have all my CPC tapes&disks, though, so it'll be those.
.. or me, obv!

Oldest thing in the bedroom is Wifey.

The previous question about plants, well this has been studied a good bit. Computers and sensors have taught us a lot about plants, that they can feel pain, they can respond to and feel emotions and that plants can communicate with each other.

Question of the Day : October 30th

If you could redesign the keyboard layout, what changes would you make and why?

I wouldn't redesign the bloody keyboard. Put the full sized arrow keys back. Force a numpad on every layout. And leave every damn key where it's supposed to be.

I'd add a group user-defined macro buttons to the right, ideally in a numpad formation for left-right balance.

Not really what was asked, but make every keyboard lighted and make every keyboard come with at least six clear keyboard skins to protect them.

I have a corsair k55 rgb keyboard ... bought it somewhat accidentally. I mistook it for the other keyboard.

I was looking for a keyboard without the exta function keys on the left, and had to have the light on the keys.
(i have pulled out the extra keys and covered it with a black tape, so it is ok now.)

For the pc keyboards, i would put the extra function keys above the f1-12 keys, with a bit of distance, so that it is easily distinguishable from the f-keys.

I would not change anything to this design (maybe place the fn key somewhere else) ...

But, for the laptop keyboards ...

This Aus ROG Zephyrus Duo has a touchpad where the numpad would be and additionally, if you press a key, the touchpad becomes a numpad with clickable numbers !

(There is a smaller laptop from Asus which has only the touchpad without the numpad function.

That's how the laptop keyboards should be (ok. well, with slight modifcations ...)

If computers could write poetry, what themes do you think they would explore?
Tue, 31 Oct 2023, 00:33
Kuron
SoCoder, we have decent AI now, computers write poetry. ChatGPT is well skilled at Haiku and most forms of poetry.
Tue, 31 Oct 2023, 00:58
Jayenkai
Yes, but we have to prompt it. If it could write its own poetry, I believe it would be in the language of zeroes and ones.
