I usually at least care about the odd bits a pieces of a WWDC event, but .. good grief, there's.. like... nothing, here!!! (so far, they haven't got to iPad yet)

OK, there we go.
Windows.
They've finally added Windows to MacOS, and a slightly more useful Files app.
Cool.
iPadOS gets a bit more MacOS'y

Given the fallout after last year's AI hype, I am not sure anybody is expecting too much this year.

Have already seen some calling it Liquid Ass. Didn't like the "Glass" design when MS tried to pull it off decades ago.

At least the Glass will be better than MS's attempt as it will actually work, whether you like the aesthetic or not.

I think UI is in such a bad state that AI is being leaned on to actually find what would have been a simple task prior. It all started going downhill with Google's "material" design. Minimalism for the sake of minimalism at the cost of easy discoverability and seeing your options while navigating. We can point fingers at various companies but the problem is this trend of minimalistic design at the cost of discoverability and providing clear action options to users is a plague across all interfaces. It feels like interfaces have been failing for something like 13 years now.

I am no fan of Google and consider them a dingleberry on the ass of life, but if you are using ChromeOS, their design standards are actually intuitive and work well, otherwise I agree with you. That said, I think they are changing ChromeOS for the worse.

Only major disappointment when moving to Apple was the lack of a decent file manager. If I had to, I could have gotten along with the default, but chose to buy Forklift and do not regret it. Works perfectly and is familiar enough it feels natural, plus has WebDAV support built in (which my host uses).

At this point an Etch A Sketch glued to an abacus is better than anything MS provides. Very happy Apple user and it is the only OS I have ever kept updated.

I do usually wait for a point release or two before upgrading, just so any issues get ironed out. Not seeing anything with Tahoe that makes me want to scream.

As far as aesthetics go though I really enjoyed Mac OS when they had the scroll bars that looked like shiny teal lozenges. The clickables for the most part looked clickable.

Yeah, I agree, "Aqua" was it called? That was a nice style.
Also, I'm probably alone in this, but I LOVED the original Skeuomorphic iOS style. Though, I can understand why that was hard to keep going

When Windows Blinds first appeared, I always used Mac skins/themes, up until an Ubuntu one popped up that I liked. When I was doing contract work for a defense contractor, it would always throw them for a loop when I would show a screenshot and it looked like a Mac at first glance. It led to a few arguments, and I had to once tell them, my contract is to develop this software for Windows, nowhere in the contract does it say I have to look at Windows' butt-ugly UI while doing it.

Also went through having Windows look like a PalmPilot for a year, That green background and black text was so easy on the eyes when using CRTs.

Looking at the compatibility charts, my iPhone XR is not compatible with iOS 26

The new design has stripped out an entire layer of information for quick differentiation.

We ditched labeled icons. (one layer stripped out)
We now ditched color. (another layer stripped out)

Chasing design and simplicity leads to this degradation.
I'm not sure what the next phase would even be, stripping out the shapes and making you finger hover each monochrome square to reveal the function?

Hehe, I don't have iProduct in the house here.
But I'm enduring the suffering of my own with Gnome going "minimalist" for 4 or so years now.

That said, when you think about it, the approach they're taking to icons is literally how we make watermarks.
Things meant to be transparent and impart no color only to be minimally be seen.

My vision isn't very good and so this thing would be a disaster in my pocket.

For Apple World, labeled icons are helpful since I have only been using it since last year. June to be exact, so marking a year here. Still learning the icons and know I have only used a small portion of what is included.

Guess with my iPhone XR, things will not be changing, but my iPad mini and M3 MacBook Air will be.

@Jay. Will give Apple credit for maintaining the consistency of Siri since it was first released. If anything it was slightly better when it first appeared and was using Bing underneath.

Siri could be worse, at least it is better than Grok. Grok is as lame as ass flavored ice cream. Grok makes Microsoft Bob look useful in comparison.

Seriously, still learning Apple shit. Just today on macOS, by accident, I discovered by accident if you click with both fingers on Launchpad in the dock, instead of bringing up the normal Launchpad, it brings up a list of apps you can scroll up and down through. Wish I would have discovered this sooner as it is ungodly handy and quick.

One of these days I will have to get around to trying Siri for something. Honestly have NEVER used it.
