Quantum Engine

https://quantumeventgames.com/products/gamedev/quantum-engine.html
I'd never heard of Quantum Engine five minutes ago, but it looks like it's a quite capable piece of software for creating 2D games. Requires a 6 MB DLL to be packaged with the end program, but apart from that it doesn't demand any dependencies. Free for non-commercial usage.

Even if you don't like it, the bitmap font tool which is supplied with it is handy.

Looks OK, but with the same issue as everything else. If I'm going to change languages at this point, it'd better be worth it. That means it's going to have to give me something I don't already have, and at the moment, the most important thing is MultiPlatform.
This is stuck in Windows just the same as Blitz is, so. I'll be giving it a miss.

Jayenkai the most important thing is MultiPlatform.
MultiPlatform is waaaaaaaaaaay overrated.

Mac folkies seem a bit peeved that they can't play AGameAWeek. Tetripong being one of the more popular "We Want That!" games.

I'd personally agree, but if I CAN do it, then why shouldn't I?

Multi-platform isn't worth it in the big budget game market, because all gamers run Windows. But on the casual scene it isn't overrated, even if you're not selling the game.

This is not something I will be using, but I threw it out here in case anyone else was interested.

Being able to distribute to more platforms is ultimately a good thing, and better then just supporting Windows. The reason I think it's overrated is because there will be platform specific bugs, so many programmers think it's just a case of hitting compile three times instead of once.

When things go wrong this can add tonnes of extra hassle. Your fixing a bug for a minority of people, instead of working on your next game for the majority.

Thanks for the link, much appreciated.

Yes at the moment it's for Windows only. Maybe in the future there may be a cross-platform version. It does however support multiple languages which include Pascal, Basic and JavaScript. All supporting OO, mixed language programming. If you have any questions and/or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Thanks for your consideration.
