     ; 2 issues! We're on a roll!

A fair few people have re-emerged this week, no
doubt spurred on by the BlitzCoder memories.
With oldskool avatars being dug out, and people
desperately trying to remember who they used to be,
it's obvious that BC still holds a special place in
          our hearts.

Read Post$

     ; Basic Books
Whatever happened to those great Basic programming
books from the 80s? Zardon's decided to bring back
older memories, for those who can remember them!
Show your age! What helped you learn the ropes?

     ; Gaming Mashups
If you could take two different genres of gaming,
and smash them together to make a whole new one,
what would it be, and why? JL235 takes us on a
          bizarre voyage of genre mashups.

     ; Test Your Memory
Phoenix is playing around in Flash, and has made
one of those Simon games, but with a little twist.
See how far you can get!

     ; Workshop 200
Our little Wednesday Workshop challenges have now
been going for nearly 4 whole years!
          Yikes!
For WW 200, see if you can write a game using only
          2000 characters.

Repeat : Until GameOver

Since there's been no new games on the site this week,
     here's some we made earlier.

     ; Joe! (Phoenix)
An old Wednesday Workshop entry from Phoenix seems
to have regained a little interest, this week,
thanks to Spinal's revelation that he's working on
          a possible DS edition.
Whether it turns up, or not, there's still plenty
of fun to be had with the original.

     ; Avalanche Retro
Guide your character up, away from the rising lava
(or red water?!) using the piles of bricks that
          rapidly fill the arena.
     socoder.net/?showcase=17955

     ; Poing! (Prospero)
Good old Poing! I keep coming back to this game.
A classic on the Amiga, remade by Prospero, and
played far too much by me!
          Keep the ball going right!

Goto Links

; Duke Nukem For... um.. Never? (linked by Spare)
          3D Realms are gone!?
          What happened there?!?
     socoder.net/?link=18620

; Good News Week (linked by Jayenkai)
An Austrailian Panel Show, in the mold of Mock The
Week. It takes the week's news, and turns it into
decent comedy. Their website not only allows you to
steam episodes to watch now, but also actually
allows you to download the show as a Podcast, too!
We need more shows like that!
     socoder.net/?link=18607

; Jarvis Cocker (linked by Jayenkai)
Jarvis (Pulp) attempts to spell his name using
          big letters!

Next

Meh, #2's not much better, really, is it?
It's just a batch of links!!
     No matter, we'll get there.
At least we got proper Basic headers this week, so we're
     definitely getting better at it!

For next week's newsletter, I'd like there to be a
teensy bit more content, but since it's all being
grabbed from Socoder, I can only give what I'm given!
Post your stuff, and you might see it here, next week.
