iPad rocked up yesterday, the migration process was seamless, very nice device.

Have you looked at Love2D? It's Lua based and deployment is really easy.
With LibGdx, once I downloaded the ''exe maker'', I just needed to create a config file and a bat file, easy :P

Regarding graphics, yeah stand-alone are not the best, but PCVR using the Quest is good (https://store.steampowered.com/app/546560/HalfLife_Alyx/)... but you need the headset and then a decent Gaming PC.
The technology is getting better and better each ye*snip*
