Afr0	Ok, since it's almost Christmas, I ordered a basic starting kit for brewing last night. Hopefully it will arrive in a week or two. Now, what I'm wondering is; Could anyone here (I don't really have any better place to ask) post some links or write the basic process of brewing beer? I've been through lots of Norwegian sites with old traditional recipes and whatnot - but they all seem to differ in their steps, and they all confuse and/or loose me at some point! I figured since some of you are from the UK, you might have some idea of what to do. Here's what I've ordered and what I have: - 30 liter pot with an airlock for the brewing. - 10 liter pan for boiling water and malt (I might have to get a bigger one, but this is as large as we have at home) - An oven (one in the livingroom, one in the kitchen). - A temperature metre (-40C to +100C). - A dochickey for tapping the brew from the boiling pan (I'm not sure what this is called in English). Some further questions: - Should I make my own malt or buy some? - What is the most basic set of ingredients for making beer? - How long should the beer brew for? - Are there techniques for varying the alcohol-level produced? -=-=- Afr0 Games Project Dollhouse on Github - Please fork!

spinal	I can't offer any help here, other than to tell you that I once tried a kit with most of the ingredients already prepared, it mostly consisted of a barrel, a secons barrel and a huge jar of goop. Anyhow, I followed the instructions to the letter and it failed. -=-=- Check out my excellent homepage!

Jayenkai	It'll probably take you about half a dozen or so tries before you get your brew "Just Right", so.. If you're expecting "Lots of Beer for Xmas" I'd honestly just go out and buy lots of beer for Xmas.. Make it a new years resolution to learn the ins and out, try a few different kits, leave them for varying times, and get to know what's best for your own tastes.. Then you can go ahead and make a special brew for yourself next year. -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

Jayenkai	I don't think so, as long as it's for yourself, anyway.. You can buy Brew-Kits all over the place, so.. unless someone forgot to tell everyone, I don't think you need a license! -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

Afr0	Don't need a license here, either. Though interestingly I believe it's more common to brew Spirits (96%) than to brew beer. That's most likely because Norway is a drunk nation. I'm just gonna stick to beer, for now... -=-=- Afr0 Games Project Dollhouse on Github - Please fork!
