Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : favourite frontpage features?

This is a quick poll I'd like to run.

Open the front page of SoCoder in a new tab. Take a long stare at it. Scroll down. Stare some more. Make sure you fully identify each section on the page.

Now list your top 3 items on the front page. That includes things like the latest posts, the members list, the showcases list, last items, the SoCoder quite, etc.

Get to it!

Well, I like all of it really (there aren't any parts that I dislike), but if I had to pick 3 favourites they'd be:
1) Latest Posts - quickly shows latest topics.
2) Poll - these are rather fun.
3) Latest Showcases - one of the main parts of the website, and always nice to see new stuff (also a reminder to me to try and get something done!).

  1. Latest posts
  2. Latest showcases
  3. Latest items

I seriously wouldn't mind if the polls/newsletters disappeared.

Actually, I've changed my mind.
  1. Latest posts
  2. Latest showcases
  3. Member list
I look at the member list more often than I think. As a potential fourth, I'd nominate the email link which says "I saw your name and had an overwhelming urge to click it."

I should probably point out that a frontpage overhaul would completely ignore the "Standards"..
So, sidebars stay, topbar stays, and the "Overwhelming urge to click it" stays, too..

Essentially, in the script at least, the frontpage is the middle bit..

I could change the positions of the rest of it, but I like the static look of the side/top bars..
..
I keep meaning to Ajaxify the middle bit, but..
Dunno if it's worth it. We had enough ajax issues in the mudchat!
