Pringles make a fat free version

There's a fat free version in the US, but I don't believe Olestra is approved for food use anywhere else. (Cooking in boiling polyester - yum!)

Is that what they use for the Fat Free ones?

The so called "fat free" version is called Rice Infusions.

According to Wikipedia, Pringles are 42% potato, not 75%. I'm amazed it's so low!

Wow!!!
I didn't bother to check that, I thought 75 was stupidly low!

In the US we have regular, reduced fat, fat free, and multi-grain.
The fat free ones are cooked in Olestra.
Not heard of rice infusions.

Yup, and apparently they tried to use this to get around UK laws on tax. Crisps have a higher rate of VAT, but Pringles technically don't contain enough potato to be legally deemed to be a crisp (although their attempt failed).

After reading this information on Pringles I may skip them from now on

Pringles are the food of the Devil - their shape is totally unnatural (a court ruling stated this - there is nothing occurring in the natural world with the same shape as a Pringle).

I don't know about "One pop and you can't stop", but they aren't as nice (or obviously as "pure") as proper crisps though. IMHO. Give me a pack of strong McCoys Steak flavour anyday. Yum. My fave crisps though are "Real Crisps"; Roast Ox and Salt & Black Pepper flavours. Luvverly.

I'm a real crisp gourmet, I have to try any new flavour I see - I could eat boxes and boxes of them. I've tried some pretty nasty flavours over the years though. And some you can no longer get (like Bovril - delicious).

YOu might be right about that shape. It's close to the cloven hoof shape and you know what that means.
