Would anyone in the US be able to pick me up one of those wall mart mini q*Bert arcade machines?

In December, I used Amazon.com to order and import a mini micro Galaxian arcade device for my Uncle's 50th Birthday. (Seems to be roughly the same sort of device)
Started at $20 + Tax + Import + Shipping, ended up costing around £50..
Bah, humbug!!

But it might be cheaper than the .co.uk alternative. Just sign up for a .com account, and you're off.

Part and parcel (aha ahahaha ahahahahaha I punned a funny) isnt it... The thing that annoys me about the setup is the like for like prices over currency, e.g. $20->£20. Yeah, I get world markets and all that, but, when it gets to a decent price, your talking a BIG difference.

When I first went to New York when I was with the ex, I went to Best Buy for a camera, spied one, Cybershot, nice little thing... $185 or something, worked out at the time £115, so we nabbed it, we knew the warranty wouldnt be worth the paper its written on taking it back to the UK, but, for me, it was a bargain.

Anyway, back home, we went to a place called Fenwicks in Newcastle, we browsed through the tech bit of the shop, and though and behold, there was our little Cybershot with an asking price of... £185!

£70 difference, and I'm thinking... How... How can that gulf be justified? It cannot, and that was the difference sub £200, imagine the difference for, say, an iMac or a top spec Surface... Your talking a fortune.

And as a golfer, not so much in recent years, but, when I played a lot, I knew people who would pay the £50 price to take a shitty set of sticks from Ebay to the US, and then go to one of them golf warehouse places and nab the likes of a top set of Calloways or Ping for next to nowt, chucking the pap ones away when they got there and bringing the new ones back, thus, saving themselves, probably half the cost of their bloody holiday! :/

Just wrong, plain wrong!

There's no point arguing about the difference. They've been doing it for decades, and nothing's changed. Just crap we have to live with.

I'm at least happy that when you see a price for something, here in the UK, that's *usually* the price you'll pay. A number of places still add "Surprise! We didn't include VAT!!" afterwards, but in general the price will be as stated.
I can't tell you the number of times I've done a shop on a US site, only to find the price has practically doubled as soon as I click to the checkout!
