Maybe I'm just getting old but I find myself caring less and less about each new console generation at the moment. Is it just me?

Seeing as I haven't played anything on my PS4 in well over a year, despite having stacks of new games, I think I can safely wait for decent software to arrive for PS5. So some time in 2022 then.

I've been "Nintendo only' for about 1.5 generations now.
I had an X360, but halfway through the hen, kinda gave up on it.
I think it's the AAA vibe that seemingly murdered my love of gaming.

I've grown way more love for my gamevube and N64 again of late, there's so many awesome games on those systems, bonus is, the kids love them also, which is great

I think raytracing might be something that can make games more appealing. On the pc a low end raytracing machine starts at 1700euro(laptop) so that is no fun now.

I've been a Nintendo fan since getting Zelda OOT on the N64 (in fact I bought the N64 for that game).

I still get all the machines from Sony and M$, but Nintendo gets most of my love. Sony and M$ wouldn't and couldn't do Animal Crossing or Pikmin etc. Only NintenDOES.

£449 for the Drive edition, £359 for the Driveless one.
November.. 19th I think? Damn, already forgot.. I'll update one I can find that again!

.. Yeah, 19th.

That's not a bad price.

Not that I'm interested in either next-gen machine just yet, but if I were, I'd definitely go for the one with the drive. I'm not going to go all-digital unless I have to.

I dunno, I think I'm all digital, nowadays.
The drive on my recent PS4 Plus purchase has gone unused, and Zelda BOTW is still in the cartridge port on my Switch.

The one worry is that if I were to buy a PS5-Driveless, the downstairs telly would no longer have a DVD player..
.. Not that we've played any DVDs in a long time, but still..

The extra £100 for the drive is well worth it considering you'll probably make that money back buying preowned PS4 + PS5 games.

I haven't bought a second hand game since... Maybe Dreamcast!? Perhaps GBA..?
Same with selling my games back, too. My collection runs deep!

.. Having said that, I've barely any of my PSX/DS/3DS games left in my collection because everyone in the extended family kept "Borrowing" games, and they can all fuck off if they think they're doing that in future.

*grumpy old man with 6 games left in his PSX collection out of what must've been at least a hundred or so*

Pre-ordered the disk version. My logic is "you can't buy second hand downloads". Plus if it's 100% backwards compatible, there's a pile of ps4 games there that I don't play

FYI : Prices on the PlayStation store aren't terrible.
Unlike Nintendo, old games get reductions!

The way things are going over here I'm going to keep holding onto what money I have as tightly as possible, a new console would be cool but I probably wouldn't use it much.
