never used a light pen ...I wonder if those modern 100+mhz tv’s are able to emulate an electron beam in order to get light pen/guns to work?.....

Not sure about that but I suppose it may be possible to do it with software; quickly fill the screen with pixels, in a raster-style, every other frame. It would probably flicker like fuck though.

it appears that if you can set your TV to its native mode and remove any of the upscaling and other crap that they do these days, a NES zapper will still work.

- NES games just changes an area of the screen to white for a frame or two, so the gun only checked for a color change without any timing.

Well that's my idea blown out the window, the thing I had in mind is really donkey slow.
