Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Where to post?

Every Tuesday I finish off a game, and then have to start doing a multipost to a few other sites.

So far on my list is..
1. AGameAWeek - The Jay Archive - because, this is where I upload it!!
2. AGameAWeek - Blog - because that's the whole point of it!
3. Here, obviously!! duh!!
4. TIGsource - I have a 4 page (and growing) forum post that gets extended each week, but that I'm about 99.9% sure nobody bothers to read.
5. RetroRemakes - If the game has a retro feel, I'll occasionally post it there.
6. Curly's World of Freeware - Sometimes, if a game's turned out really well, I'll post it there, too.
7. 2BeesInDePub - And if it's really really good, it gets posted over there..

Those are my regulars.

But.. What else is there?!
Where else can a guy post his warez, without being one of those git'ish spammers..

reddit's /r/gamedev is full of awesome people (though if it's not open source they might bite your head off!)

There's also /r/gaming.

In fact I did submit JNKPlat 2010 to /gaming (hope you don't mind!) and it was well received considering all /gaming usually cares about is Valve and Team Fortress 2!

I always felt that reddit was a "I found" as opposed to "I made" kind of place. Would feel a bit spammy posting my own stuff there.

Well, it's not spammy if you're actually a part of the community there, i.e. contributing and commenting too. But it varies from subreddit-to-subreddit, i.e. the gamedev subreddit is probably happy enough if you're just a indie game dev. The focus is often less on the links and more on the discussion around the content (you don't even have to link to anything; you can do a "self" post) and the most important part is actually submitting to the relevant subreddit (/programming probably wouldn't care).

You could perhaps give it a try for just a week to see if you enjoy it enough (it's really not like Digg - the user comments are (usually!) actually worth reading and the comment system is actually *good*!). You only start subscribed to the top 10 subreddits, so you might want to add others such as /physics, /gamedev, /bacon, /whatever

If you feel like paying money for the privilege, you could try the GameProducer.net / GameRelease.net Indie Press Release Service - the releases are sent out even to sites as big as Yahoo. It's limited to once a month though - for a game a week you might have to argue something.

I wish!

I'm not in any kind of position to start paying for this!!

*sux*

Heh Jay, we'll have to have a SoCoder fundraiser! Perhaps even a communal account there might be interesting!
