Socoder -> Nintendo Gaming -> Isn't the Wii Smashing?

(Pun intended)

Yep, after complaints from gamers that the WiiMote wrist strap keeps breaking, resulting in the destruction of windows, TV, people, etc by flying WiiMotes, Nintendo are dealing with the issue by issuing a thicker wrist strap.

So, all new Wiis will have the strap, but looks like Jay will have to dish out for a replacement...

The new straps are free, according to a few reports I saw earlier today.

I don't honestly think it's that bad an issue, just a few idiots who seem to be letting go, or letting too much sweat build up on their hands... Seriously, guys.. Wipe those hands!!

Yep. Ahhhh, good pictures. I remember the guy from Nintendo yesterday saying that it had passed all of its safety tests, and yet today they go back on it and release a new strap.

Wow. There's even a site called wiidamage.com!

Jay, how come you have a new strap already? I thought your Wii arrived 2 days ago, before all this was announced.

|edit| Wahey, I finally found the pic I want:

They probably started replacing the straps ASAP. I dunno!
Anyway, if I pull the strap tight, it looks thick like the left hand strap picture, not ludicrously thin like the right hand one..
And if it were thin like that, I'd definately have signed up for replacements, already!

Well... with the WiiMote being that smashing, it looks like Nintendo had discovered a breakthrough. . Pun definately intended.

No. One website did a strength test on the original straps.

Link Here

There is no way that the straps could have broken with NORMAL use. They either didnt have them on at all or they were doing some crazy things with it.

People were most probably swinging the remotes around by their straps. Even though you shouldn't do it, the straps should be able to withstand that strength.
