JNKx15 : Spamming the world with Jayenkai happyness

Spam Spam Spamity Spam

After 1 year and 13 weeks of writing a brand new game every week, you'd probably expect a huge flood of visitors to my site, on a weekly basis.

Where the hell are they!?!

This week, I decided to try something a little out of the ordinary for myself, and a wee bit more crappily-spammy.

---

First off, I picked 15 games from my Archive.
Next, I neatly fit them together into a single folder, and then packed them all into a nice neat single zip file.

I spent a day taking videos of them, and pieced the videos together into a nice advert-like Youtube vid.

View on YouTube

Then I uploaded the big 36Mb file to the server, posted a link, and set off publicising the fook out of it.

1. My own blog, obviously, needed the thing posted, and that's what it got.

2. Twitter got both the Video and Download links. If you'd like to pass the Bit.ly's around, they are..
bit.ly/JNKx15-Vid and bit.ly/JNKx15-Get

3. I posted the vid and download to TigSource, under a different topic than my usual AGameAWeek topic, because... quite frankly.. if nobody gave a single response to Blockman Gets More, then it's blindingly obvious that no bugger's reading the AGameAWeek topic after 13 weeks of it continuously re-emerging!!

4. CWF (Curly's World of Freeware) also got a post, this morning, because I know they love a few of my games. Although having 15 in one topic isn't usually liked, there, so I suggested a mod move it if need be. (I might be being spammy, but I don't want to be a git about it!!)

5. PirateBay!!
Yup, this one's a wee bit different, but if you've a download with 15 games in it, you might as well give it a go.

6. MiniNova!!
Same here, although I'm not too sure the torrent worked there, but what the heck..

(5+6 have been copied RSS style to a bunch of other torrent sites, type JNKx15 into google to see!)

7. Newsgroups
I headed into Alt.Binaries.Games, and posted "Super 15 freeware games".
On reflection, that topic does look exactly like the type of topic I'd avoid, because it looks exactly like it'll contain a virus!!
I might redo that one later.

---

So, with all those spammy bits all over, will it work?
I'm not sure.
My guess is probably not, because it never bloody well does..

Nice video!

Suggestion: The labels for the games on the video should link to the download page.

I was going to do that, but when you click the "Add link" button, it gives you the following options..

That's the thing I absolutely hate about linky annotations...

After a whole weekend of spammy goodness, things appear to have peaked already, although somewhat ironically, only one of the five biggest Referrals actually had anything to do with the JNKx15 collection.

Only idealsoftblog.it bothered to link to the collection, although they did so in a very nice "It's a bit like a C64" style.
Nicely presented, nicely posted.

Homebrew Welt is ALWAYS at the top of my referrals, and I'm not entirely sure why. I do tend to wonder if it's not just sending spambots!! They do have a few of my DS games in their collection, but when all other sites seem to die down after a few days, Homebrew Welt just keeps on going.
Blockman Gets DS is still sitting pretty on their frontpage, though, so maybe that's reason enough?

Jay Is Games featured Tetripong (Bit late!!) in their weekend roundup. A quicky mention, not much more, and yet so many links. Wootsocks!

Someone at SuperLevel.de must've been having a good rummage around Socoder on Friday 13th.
Ninja, Duck! got a mentioning, along side a brief mention of Blockman Gets. DD/JL235's Space Snake also got a mention there, too.

And then there's RetroRemakes where they mentioned that I made 4 games during October.

Plenty of links, lots of visits, and generally a good time had by the server!

And yet, hardly anything JNKx15 related.
..
Which, to be honest, kinda sucks..

I got lots of referrals from SuperLand.de.
