Rock and roll (Pixelart stones)

I was browsing through my collection of references and found a sheet with stone creatures. I tried to draw them myself. The originals were larger so that was a problem and I also just was not able to get a nice outcome overal. I decided then to find a stone or rock reference image and try to redraw those, this to learn from that.

As you might see the creatures look a little bit badly drawn(imo) The rocks I think are somewhat better. I wil try to use those base style and technique to turn them into 16x16px creatures.

Both sheets took me hours to do. I think it was 5+ hours now.

I do like the Little Rock-folk. I think they'll probably look even better if animated, and wandering around a platformer or something.

I wil try and do more rocks to practise shading and maybe check the pixelart book on how to practise primitives(cones/cubes/globes) shading.

btw - I was chatting with a pixelartist and he asked for my portfolio. When he browsed through it he mentioned if I was interested in joining him and another artist in creating asset packs for stores like itch.io. I have been programming for so long and really rarely got asked for something that could make money. I mentioned my current situation where I am stil wanting to learn more and my financial situation where I am uncertain in how making money affects my disability.

I think I am doing right in trying to get better at drawing pixel art. Once(if) I get real good it is nice to know I can contact him. Maybe more things wil come like that.
