Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : What are you playing?

Since I got my X360 the other week, I've pretty much been playing Burnout 24/7! I also got Saints Row, but having played it for an hour or two, I put it aside as a quite dodgy GTA clone.. (hey, £12, can't complain!! At least it's something!)

However, somewhat ironically, I ended up playing it for hours today! It's not bad once you get into it, and certainly not as bad as I'd initially thought.
True, there's no Auto-Face-Forward on the camera, which causes all manner of issues.. and there are graphical bugs galore, like entire buildings popping in and out, right in front of you...
But.. It's not a bad game, and you can have just as much fun in it than in a GTA game.. especially with crazy-ass Havoc Physics flinging people around like there's no tomorrow..
Hit a car, fly for a mile!!

Silly, but... Fun..

So, QOTD : What have you been playing?

You may laugh, but I've been playing Daggerfall through a DOS emulator. Yes, The Elder's Scrolls II. You wish your PC could play it!

I've put games aside for the most part. I just can't get into them like I use to. I'm really disappointed with Wii's (the only console I own) library; it's mostly third party trash. Haven't touched it in months. As for the PC, nothing has appealed to me.

Daggerfell might be too high spec for my eee, but I used to play Arena years ago when it was originally out (and a few times since in DOS box).

Right now I've started on Half Life 1 again, as has my room mate, so were planning to look into this mod which will allow us to play it in co-operative.

I'm also meant to be going through Tales of Phantasia on the SNes, but I haven't opened it in weeks. Occasionally I also do a few hours on PSO.

I bought GTA: San Andreas on Steam the other day... It's addictive and a great way to waste time, but even so I don't feel it was worth the ~£7 I paid for it (50% off) - partly because I'm cheap, but mostly because my favourite games are ones that inspire me and give me new ideas as a programmer. While GTA: SA is fun enough to play, it's not exactly special.

I was playing some freeware platformers:

Alex adventure. It is psychedelic and has nice music.
And also Nikujin, by madman Ikiki.

I tried this Yahoo Monopoly. It's really good and the games monetary values were updated but the thing times out after one hour.

I've been playing Diablo II LOD a bit more lately. I have tried with several players to beat the game, but haven't yet. I had a level 73 necromancer but couldn't beat Baal in nightmare mode. This is in single-player mode, of course.

So for a while I wasn't doing anything with it, but later found a character mod program and have been playing with that, on a new character. The rules are, it costs 5000 gold to transfer any magical property from one item to another... and that's about it. But the special thing is, whenever you find a nice item, you can simply copy the magical properties you like onto your existing gear, and then sell what's left of the item (sometimes they're not worth much then). My character has a very powerful set of gear, and I have been gathering all sorts of spells. My most commonly-used non-necromancer spells are the sorcoress's blizzard, thunderstorm, and the 3-headed dragon thing, and the druid's fizzure. I also have the druid's bear and the assassin's shadow master assisting my band of skeletons and my fire golem. I was able to defeat Diablo in nightmare mode without too much trouble (I had like 7 resurected monsters from another battle, which made is almost easy), so I'm hoping Baal won't be that difficult. But we'll see.
