Socoder -> On Topic -> Coders Workshop Changes!

This message was on the site before, but it does look like they added a little more to it. The big point though is that someone has taken the time to update the site. So I wonder what this all means. Could it be returning after all? Furthermore, do we even care anymore? SoCoder is our home.

Back at the beginning of SoCoder, if CW had come back then, I think we would all have gone back. But, now... no. Stealth is right - SoCoder is our home now. And I like the community here better than over at what CodersWorkshop was. Plus, without a forum - meh, I like it better here.

As for DevCrunch, it's been like that for ages, so it's interesting that they still link to it like that. As for Wazzup and Mousey, I believe (at least, I think, anyway...) that those were posted a long time ago, when Oscar (who runs it) was testing the forum. Or something like that. Meh.

Long live SoCoder!

I don't want Coder's Workshop back, and I very surely don't want the Blitzcoder archives back. It was good while it lasted but I don't see why they so desperately want to revive the old out-dated - and fairly less useful than we remembered it to be - site.

Although, when was this message added? It's not like we're regulars at CW (at least not me!), so this could have been added ages ago.

I'd like Coders Workshop to return, but not so we can all switch over. SyntaxBomb is almost as dead as Devcrunch, and I want more then one site to post too.

I think I remember seeing that message quite a while ago. I don't remember how long it was, but it was... long.
Anyways, Diablos; There's always Gamedev

Gamedev is great when you want to discuss programming, but there's no community atmosphere. You're just another faceless member (literally, since you have to pay to use an avatar).

This message was added AGES ago..
When DevCrunch was still Old DevCrunch, before all the admins inexplicably left, and Oscar removed it all to start anew.

The message had since been removed .. not sure why it's back again!

For the matter, who's Steve? What ever happened to Seth?

Seth got booted out of Idigicon, from what I know. Then Seth said screw them when they tried to get him back to redo the site.

But I can't verify that is entirely the way things went down. I'm just repeating what I heard.

Ehh. I don't really know. I would love to stress right now that I do not know how accurate that information is. That is all that came to mind when I was reflecting back on it.

Honestly I believe it would not even bother Socoder at the least bit if CW came back online. I honestly only went to it 1 time when blitzcoder announced its closing. And that was the last time I had done any programming until I came to socoder! Considering that the majority of us that post on a regular basis IS the community and enjoy and love the atmosphere here as it is now, we have nothing to worry about.

Now I agree with Joe as I would love to have another DECENT site to post to. I get on here and I spend 10 minutes looking over new post and thats about it for the day for me here. Unless I am working on something and regularly posting on a topic of mine about that project.

And I dont think they are trying to resurrect the old CW and old BC sites. I think they just want to consolidate the old content and hand it over to devcrunch to put up for all to use again. I think that would be a great idea as I would love to see all the old stuff from BC again. I know there is that mirror that someone setup but it doesnt have the old forum post and I would like to reminisce a bit as well. Good stuff and good times!

Now with all that to the side even if CW came back online I probably still wouldnt jump into it as I really didnt care for it back then. I might have to check out gamedev tho....

I'm pretty confident that message is extremely out of date and no longer relevant. I don't know why they re-posted it.

DevCrunch is dead as well.

Please Mog !... Don't even try to get started with the naming and shaming. It caused enough problems on here before, and I,m sure Jay has enough on his plate with running this forum, than having to play referee to another flame war.

Now what you just did there, is exactly what causes forums to end up like CodersWorkshop.

Yes, they were evicted from SoCoder, but that don't make them bad people, so there is really no need to start publicly slagging people off.

I am still very much in contact with Power Mousey. He's not a bad person, he really is a great guy.

So can we all please, just try to get along ?.

@ Mog...

My appologies... I should have been clearer in my last post.

I'm not grilling you, I'm just saying "Please think before you post" .

I have replied to a PM from Jay, to explain myself.

Jay... Feel free to post my PM on here, so that I can hopefully clear-up a few issues.

|edit| If ever it seems that I'm a bit off track due to me not explaining myself properly, then please tell me. Taking action like that will prolong the longevity of SoCoder . |edit|
