Socoder -> Blitz Max -> Mark Sibly opening the Dev Team forum for anyone interested

It seems Mark Sibly is interested in getting people helping out with testing/development of BlitzMax, so if you're into that sort of thing, he's made a post on it over on the BlitzMax forums:

Join the DevTeam!
Hi,

I've decided to open up the interal 'DevTeam' forum to anyone who is interested and willing to help test/develop BlitzMax.

To join, you should have purchased BlitzMax and be willing to try out potentially dodgy release candidates.

Please DO NOT join if you're not completely happy with trying out experimental software! In particular, don't expect anything released in DevTeam to be up to building 'release quality' projects - that's for 'real' releases.

Instructions for joining, which I shouldn't post, are in the thread.

I thought he'd already made it OpenSource!

I probably would, but damned if I have any time for that sort of thing, lately.
Sucks.

I haven't even gotten very far through Monkey Island SE, yet.
Monkey Island!! Not even time for Monkey Island!!!!! FFS!

mmm, open sourced, and you have to pay for it?

I don't think he's making it open source by doing this, nor does he mention anything about the source code. Far as I'm concerned, this is just to get more people testing, providing feedback on future releases, and possibly contributing to module development.

From the looks of it, this is just to find some testers for the upcoming versions of BMax.

You can run Linux on the PS3, so there is no reason why you couldn't port BMax to it.

I really doubt Sibly's going to prioritize it, though.

That's incredible. I wrote years ago that he might do something like this to keep business flowing and interest in his product alive.

Everyone else is.

Open source I would not recommend at all. Especially since BMax is his main source of income.

Why not a Dev Team for B3D? He's done with that but let others make it good. Non open source there as well.

I think you misunderstand what he's doing...

If anyone could register to see (and edit?) the source, it would essentially be opensource.

I'm with Cower on this, from the looks of it he's just looking for testers and at most people who can help with modules. Nothing more, and it's actually quite a non-story.

I misread the Test/Development statement then, presuming that the so called developers would be contributing code to HIM.
