waroffice	does anyone else work in the IT industry? Do you find you have colleagues bragging about how good they are and how elite they are? Where i work it is common and quite annoying and i find myself trying to catch these pretenders out. In a recent case, one young chap claims to be 'invincible with subnetting' i asked him a common subnetting test question and he had no clue what i was on about and started quoting random, unrelated buzz words. god it winds me up!!! /rant

JL235	I work professionally and yes I've encountered people like this, but only in rare cases. I remember one person a few years I had to work with. Nice guy who would speak loads at meetings like he knew what he was doing and always giving suggestions, however over the year he he failed to complete/deliver a single item of work. He wasn't kept on any longer.

waroffice	we dont seem to have such justice as management believe these pretenders and give them promotions/projects to work on then ignore the actual talent. So frustrating but im guessing its the same the world over.

Those who don't know tend to bluff their way through, and in the process are much more verbal in their desperate attempt to get people to believe they know what they're doing. Evil Roy Ferguso	I've encountered people like this, but fortunately I don't work with any - the management comes from the trenches, and they are not impressed by buzzword bingo. Not to say there isn't occasionally friction between the developers, but on a small scale, it's a given, even when nobody has personality defects or crippling knowledge gaps.
