Dabz	Oh, forgot to mention... I was in Sainsburys last night with the other half, and stumbled on the magazine section while she was looking at some household bollocks... Anyway, i glanced at a Linux magazine that had something like "Build your own NAS server", which, looked to be the same setup as the one Mr WarOffice suggested i do... It also proclaimed it had a 4.7gig DVD crammed with software (which when i took a closer look the vast majority was Linux distros)... It wasn't a thick magazine either, but, the NAS guide thing would be handy so i looked for the price, couldn't see one, but thought it wouldn't be too much since their was technically nowt in the thing... Got to the checkout... Putting all the guff through, then the magazine beeped through... 6 sodding quid... SIX English snots... I stood there looking, went to the wifey on the checkout "is that really 6 pound?"... She went "yeah, look", where she show me the tiny writing in the corner of the front page, which, in most cases, anyone with normal eye sight would need glasses that can see Venus to notice it. Dabz	Now... I don't mind paying, but, like most things with Linux, everything on the sodding 4.7gig DVD is bloody free anyway, and the guide that interested me is probably online somewhere anyway... If it was, say, 4 quid, then aye... Worth the punt, but, 6 quid for a magazine that is thinner then posh spice on a diet of dyed water... Nah! waroffice	I subscribed to linux format, its miles cheaper but I havnt read one in months, I cancelled it but they keep you going for what you have paid for (June) got loads of em on my desk at work and a boat load of disks with nothing really on them. there is a coding academy in them but I think unless you start from the beginning its not great

Dabz	Coding wise i use Vala on Linux... Its a bit C# in its setup, and along with something like Geany, a real gem! Usually though, when i try to do other things, like said NAS whatsit, in totally useless when it comes to terminal antics and generally install crap till i wreck everything! Very outrageous. Some of the articles are interesting but It's just enough to get you started and the last time I looked not nearly enough to guide you into using Linux permanently.
