We mostly say ’accelerator’ around here. (Ohio)

A lot of the younger people around here say accelerator too, but most people that were born pre 1990s say throttle. I will probably still say throttle even when the internal combustion engine gets replaced by the electric motor.

And now I'm gonna make myself sound even more old. When I first started driving, a lot of cars still had a choke pull-control.

My first two cars had chokes. Thankfully they are now a thing of the past.

My third car, a 1988 Vauxhall Astra, had an auto-choke that was gradually opened by a Bi-Metal spring as the engine warmed up. Even those auto-chokes didn't always work properly, especially if the coolant level was low. Thank fuck for fuel injection systems or better still, thank fuck I migrated over to Diesel, it elimiates all the staring problems that you get from petrol and you even get full power from a cold start.
