rockford	Matt Smith has been a pretty good Doctor that has only been let down by bad scripts, bad storylines and odd directorial decisions. My decrease in enjoyment of the show over the past few seasons was not down to him or his partners. While I think John Hurt is a great actor, I don't think he'd be good as the Doctor - we need someone who can be both physically and mentally fit to take on that role and he's getting on a bit. If Doctor Who was to be less action orientated he'd be great, but then the show would indeed become boring. Oh, and Mr BBC chaps, let's have more of the Doctor saving the world than his assistants saving him next series please. And less of the Sonic screwdriver being the solution to all of the problems every single bloody episode.

9572AD	Actually, I'd like to see less of him saving the Earth, the Universe, Reality, and Time Itself while surrounded by a cast of familiar characters conveniently all turning up; and some more old-school storylines where he shows up somewhere random and helps some random folks through their random problems the best he can before buggering off again. -=-=- All the raw, animal magnetism of a rutabaga.

Jayenkai	I dunno, the more "unknown" you make an alien world/scenario, the more explanation is needed for the viewer. I think that, if they're going to stick to single-45-minute episodes, you need to have a shorthand. If it's earth/humans, you get to cut out the "alien backstory" crap, and instead get down to business. Similarly, the "overuse of Sonic" is primarily for this same reason. Why send ten minutes trying to unlock a door,when you can just wave a screwdriver and continue. Although its true that it might very well have gained 67,000 extraneous uses, and would indeed function better as "just screwdriver type scenarios", and perhaps stick to chairs for the breaking of computers, it does indeed help with the pacing, when used correctly. Either way, these are writer issues, and replacing the actor won't help fix either. Only better writing will do that. For what it's worth, I've thoroughly enjoyed the last series of Who, and am looking forward to the 50th! -=-=- ''Load, Next List!''

rockford	WHO ever it is all the fans will moan until the proper show starts, then claim he's the second Messiah. I just want good stories and good scripts for the next series - I don't care who plays the Doctor. Some decent new monsters would be nice too.

JL235	I got the impression that John Hurt is just for the 50th special which is coming up. He looks like some kind of future 'Dr Who turned dictator for the good of the galaxy' type figure, based on the end of the last series.

spinal	Apparently he's the one after the one with the hair who was after Alister McCoy. The 8.5th Doctor I think. So he was the Dr for those years that he was off the air. Before the one with the ears and no hair. -=-=- Check out my excellent homepage!
