I read about the London theater roof collapsing as well. The news mentioned that The other theaters are being checked due to their age. This flooding may have a impact in that area as well.
Hopefully her Majesty speaks of this to console her subjects.

Unless DD has since moved, Birmingham and surroundings seem ok at the moment. We're in the middle, not the south, so while we've had lots of rain and wind, there isn't any flooding.

I heard Kent on the news, and immediately thought of DD. He was at Kent Uni, wasn't he? Didn't he stick around, there? Or am I going old and senile? Could be that!!
*shrugs*

I thought he was at Birmingham Uni, but I could be wrong and it could be somewhere else. As I remember it he recently started a PhD?

A quick bit of internet stalking later... it's Birmingham.

East Anglia has been affected, but here in MK we're safe and dry.

I would have bet on the University of Kent, too... He worked on the Greenfoot site, which is a Kent project.

It looks like he went there, at least for awhile; I figured he was probably an undergrad over there before he went to pursue more post-grad education.

Yeah, next to nothing, up in Bolton, but plenty of harrowing tales popping up on Twitter.

The Queen gave her speech and showed images of workers. Tose might have been the ones near the floods since she mentioned them.

The Queen's speech is recorded a few days in advance, so I wouldn't be so sure.

DD is currently at Birmingham. I live nearby - there are no floods here. I am sure he is fine.

I live near the South/East coast, been high speed winds here but I've not personally witnessed any bad floods yet. Thank **** I live sort of high up.

|edit| My shed has held together during the wind so far, I hope it stays that way |edit|

Wind's completely obliterated one of our fence panels, but that's about as bad as it got. We've been pretty lucky, considering the amount of chaos in the area.
