Right, the whole Template thing seems to be taking ages, and going nowhere fast.. I'm going to put the Template system on hold. It's really not worth messing about with the layout of the site, if whole chunks of the site are buggering up.

Instead, let's take a peek into the ever-growing mail-bag of bugs, shall we!

Bugs
Agent Smith I have a problem with the site - whenever I try to edit my comment in Power Mousey's blog Cobra not so down to Earth (or add a new comment) I get the following error:

Aaah, the whole chr () thing. Honestly, I'm not sure I can fix that. But I'll try my best.

shroom_monk Whenever you change a setting in your profile (or at least your time settings), it resets your smilies to 'No Smilies'

So it does. I'll get that sorted. I'll also go and tweak the Site Theme page so it doesn't default to "Dark Red and Blue" all the time!

shroom_monk In the RSS Feeds, if you delete a showcase, then it's name still remains!!!

Oh!

shroom_monk The links in the RSS feed don't work!

No, they do work.. It depends on the reader's output of urls. Apparently, you can't add &'s into rss feed urls, so instead I used %26. Although some readers (like Firefox's raw viewer) will show it as a &, they stupidly send it back out as %26, mucking up the link as they go.
I'll tweak!
^ Note how shroom's moaned the most.. That's why the [moan] tags have mushrooms attached

General Tweaks
Jayenkai Why doesn't the PM show the original poster's name.

I forgot, OK!

blanko1324 Design a Theme : Where is "TestPage.html"?

Bugger.. It had it in one version of the upload, but then I added Smilies to the pack, and must've forgotten to include it the second time.

erbbysam Not sure if it's just me but... on the old BC didn't the "Blitzcoder" image in the top left link back to the homepage? ... I've found myself clicking on it a few times to no avail and can't really remember exactly why... just a feature suggestion.

I've tried various methods to get that to work. I'll have a fiddle, but no promises.

Around some buttons there are borders:

I could fix this myself, but I don't want to edit anything without permission from Jay.

^ That's the "Edit this week's Workshop Details" button, and is only visible to admin. (Or at least, it should be, anyway!!)
I couldn't be bothered neatening it up. No-one else sees it

Apparently, you can't add &'s into rss feed urls, so instead I used %26.

Should the "&" even be there?

The link I'm getting is index.php?/%26topic=123
Shouldn't it be index.php?topic=123

|edit| ok well, at least the forward slash shouldn't be there! |edit|

Regarding Erbbysam's query,
Off the top of my head, you could do this:

Not sure if that's right though...

That'd make the whole topbar a big clickable link, meaning the member list wouldn't work right... (right?!)

The ?/& thing is due to the way that .co.nr redirects.
If you try redirecting to index.php, then add a ? to the url, the ? gets lost in the redirection. So I added the ? to the redirect url, but that (for whatever reason!) added the / afterwards.. So then I realised that if you put a & on the url, the parameter sent to the php would be "?/&whataver", the / is basically ignored, and the rest continues as it should.
But I can't add &'s to the rss feeds!
Bah, humbug!

Ah I see - didn't know co.nr behaved that way.

ok just did a quick test and the member links weren't affected (I think!).
Initial code was wrong though, should have been:

OK, I'll try that later, then. At the moment I shoved a giant hyperlink over the left side of the Memberlist table, which overlaps the Socoder logo. It works fine in IE6, but not in Firefox. Stupid Firefox, doing things right! How dare it

cant you just url link the image?
Mon, 26 Mar 2007, 11:00
Jayenkai
Not whilst it's on a lower layer. If I make it a plain-old image, then the width of the Memberlist+Image will end up stretching the width of the site when viewed at low resolutions. The way it is now, if the memberlist gets too wide, it overlaps the logo instead of stretching everything out.

|moan| Urm, I don't know if its just this week, but where is the mygameideas challenge in the Wednesday workshop list. Shroom's entry is listed under the photo challenge, is this supposed to happen??? |moan|

TheMadProff : Holy cow! I must've messed that up last week! I typically post "This weeks", so last week I mustn't have bothered.
Easily repairable.

Shroom Moan : I still haven't sorted out the Mud-chat time thing, have I.. I'll fix both at once. Just have to figure out a nice way to do both at once

Sky Penguin : Okey dokey.. I'll sort it.

Any more moans?

Jay,

I think most of the moans have been
groaned by others here.

Besides, I never really had any moans.
Questions, ponderings and wonderings.
But not moans. true.

cheers
power mousey

Well, Jay, I hate to moan, so...

[gentle nudge] If you go to my profile, you don't seem to be able to search my showcases, however I can search other peoples.[/gentle nudge]

Hey, and good night Jay, Mousey, everyone

Aaah, yes, I have to recheck the Showcase/Code Snippet/etc searches. I messed up by using a preset system, instead of a dynamic one.

Plenty of stuff for me to play with tomorrow

Svrman was quite right, his div/javascript click thing does seem to work, except that if you aren't logged in, it messes up the clickability of the input boxes.
Therefore, I made it a "When you're logged in" feature. Seems to work ok that way, but if there are issues with other browsers, do let me know.

And you should add a cursor: pointer in the CSS so that it looks like a clicky link.
Tue, 27 Mar 2007, 07:30
Jayenkai
OK, done that, too!

I added a new MoreOf($User) function to the script, to save me a bit of typing! (Well, copy+pasting!)
Now all the "More Of " things around the site should work from the same set of links, making things look a little more constant around the site. You'll see these on the right hand bar in profile, blogs and badges, but also on searches that include a username.

I also repaired the "WW Entries : #", since it went a little odd!

|moan| We can't see sent pms |moan|
|moan| Jayenkai's Avatar and Avabar don't work in Firefox (I think, sorry if i'm wrong |moan|
|moan| The bottom right hand corner of the members list seems to be empty |edit| It's actually a link back to the home page |edit| |moan|

[clap]Jay's fixed the pm's thing[/clap]
[clap]The link on the thing on the logo on the right hand site now works [/clap]
[clap]There ar too many things to mention [/clap]

|moan| Can we have clap tags? |moan|

Tue, 27 Mar 2007, 15:07

"We can't see sent pms"
How d'you mean? The PM list should display both sent and recieved messages. Perhaps I should make it a list of "From X" and "To X" or something? <shrugs>

"Jayenkai's Avatar and Avabar don't work in Firefox"
Jayenkai needs to figure out why BRS Webweaver is acting up on his home PC. I could just upload them to the socoder server, but then I'd have to go around to 100+ forums, changing all my avatar links!

"The bottom right hand corner of the members list seems to be empty"
The cursor will switch to a hand-click-pointer due to Phoenix's suggestion that I make the area do that. Unfortunately, since the Member list is still part of the TopBar, the area appears to be clickable, even though most of it isn't..

"Can we have clap tags?"
"Clap" doesn't sound right. If someone can come up with a better name, then sure!

I know this is just a little late but this seemed interesting:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/DOM:event.clientX

Basically you could set the region inside the div.

Oh and perhaps [cheer], [yay] or [touchself]?
