Spurred on by a recent post by Spinal, a nice and simple Location based thread!

I'm in Little Lever, Bolton.. We have a Nob End, and a bridge made out of Meccano. In the past few years a LOT of development based meet-ups have appeared around the Manchester area, including a couple in Bolton. This is pure fucking irony, as when I was fit enough to to attend any of them, there were fuck all here, but now that I'm mostly housebound, they're right on my fucking doorstep, mocking me!! The bastards!!!!

I'm in Bletchley - home of Bletchley Park (where they cracked the German Enigma code), in Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes has lots of roundabouts, a grid-based road system that works brillaintly, a concrete dinosaur and several concrete cows. We also have one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, a huge indoor ski centre, a football stadium that is home to the MKDons and the longest residential street in the country - Whaddon Way. We are surrounded by thousands of acres of woodland, parks and lakes.

Cramlington, a reasonable size town that only recently got a cinema. Other than the brand new (empty) cinema, theres not much to do. Theres the usual argos and asda and whatnot. Attractions-wise, there are a few fields, industrial estate, some sort of hill that's meant to be a lady or something. And that comedian came from here.

I be in Paignton, Devon.

It's not a bad little place to be to be honest, there's the zoo, beach, harbourside, cinema, arcades and an absolute shed load of pubs with some other shops dotted around.

We have the problem of there being many, MANY charity shops in the town and a fair few closed down places, but it's pretty good.

Brixham next door is pretty bad from what I've heard of late, their town centre has turned towards hoodlums, mostly down to drug problems sadly.

Torquay is alright, just wouldn't want to live there, but the town's okay, also they have many, many penguins!

Nearest indie dev community is in Plymouth and I occasionally head down there to get wasted and chat about game dev stuff, catch up with my bro, etc, good times!

Web / Game Dev, occasionally finishes off coding games also!

I live in a village named Woodingdean (not far from Brighton Seafront), in Brighton, East Sussex, UK. Brighton as a whole is extremely mix cultured.

I'm in sunny Adelaide, South Australia.

We have nice beaches and a few wineries apart the place. The Adelaide Hills are nice too.

I was told a while back that beer in Australia's bars is something like the equivalent of £10 a pint, it that fact or bollocks?

A "pint" of say Heineken will cost around $8 AUD, which at the moment is around £3.70...

And a "pint" over-here isnt a proper pint, some pubs (called hotels here) will sell you an imperial pint but not many...

Langley Park in County Durham.

Not really much to go on, Sir Bobby Robson was born and raised around here, and still graced the village right up into his death, and beyond... He got buried in a cemetery about 200 yards from where I am now! Great man and all round decent guy

Erm, some scenes of the fast show where filmed here, mostly unlucky Alf sketches.

A film or too, cannot remember the names... Ohhhh... And the "Langley Park" bit in the Prefab Sprout album "Langley Park to Memphis" is inspired from here.

We also have oddly named villages in the surrounding area too... Pity Me, Bearpark and not forgetting No Place!

Cramlington

Ah, Cramlington, never really visited the place much, only to go to a builders merchants there when I was self employed (Archibalds), drive past it loads of times now though as the company I work for has a site in Blyth!

Good to see another North-Easterner on the boards!!!

Not too far away here, The New Board Inn, a pub on the hill next to Langley has Fosters at £3.40 a pint, my local, The Rams Head, just a bog standard local pub, runs in Carling at £3.10!!!

When I was away, on the snorkelling trip, an American came over to where we were sitting and ask me for a ciggie, no problem, give him the box and my lighter. He looked at them and said "Lambert and Butler, are these English cigarettes?", I said "Yep", he then asked how much they were, I told him nearly 10 pound for 20... He asked how much in dollars, and when I said "$15", he nearly fell over!

You crazy Brits with your crazy metric measurements. Our oil is $x per Gallon. Do you know what a gallon is?"

A "normal" pint say of Carlton Draught will cost you $6 AUD (approx. £2.75).

Petrol over here goes in weekly cycles, at the moment the highest is $1.50 AUD p/l and the lowest $1.20 AUD p/l.

I can't remember if the UK had these strange weekly cycles...

GfK Oh you should have told him how much petrol is here. It'd blow his mind

I can't remember how much petrol is in Brighton, but I do know that Diesel has worked it's way down to £1.06 per litre. It's still a fucking rip off though!

Nah... In the UK, we go off the price of the barrel, if a barrel of oil goes up, petrol goes up, if the price of a barrel goes down, it stays the same!

Supermarkets have price wars and all that... But I've stopped using them, its just shit that comes out of them, I've heard a few times now that they riddle the fuel with additives for their loads that leave the refinery, thus, lowing the quality of the fuel... And you know what, I genuinely can sense more miles to the gallon when I fill up between them, and proper garages!

I use supermarket fuel most of the time, I notice a higher MPG if I stuff some Redex Diesel additive in there.

Apparently they were all over the moon because petrol prices were coming down and could soon go below $2/gallon.

Venezuela, 2/3p a litre!!!

Heavily subsidised due to the fact if the government raise it, people die!

We should try that technique here!
