Companies House annual return done. Can't believe I paid the accountant £30 to do that last year.

Companies House return is piss easy - all you have to do is tell them that nothing's changed (assuming nothing has). You're just confirming company address, SAIL address, directors, shares, classifications etc. Literally only a few clicks to it (and handing over thirteen quids). I have an accountant do all the corporation tax/HMRC and personal tax return stuff. I could do the personal tax return myself as I've done it before, but it's such a pain in the arse and it only costs me £120 to have the accountant do it (and a bit over a grand for the company accounts return). |

ahhh I thought the annual accounts was the same thing! See, I'm really, really not looking forward to these! Cheapest accountant I can find is £70/month (special offer through PolicyBee who I use for insurance. PolicyBee are really good btw, wish I'd gone with them from the start!) so I'm doing it myself at the moment haha my accounts are really accurate, but they're totally in the wrong format  Personal tax return will be easy: no money.

A personal tax return is generally the same whether you've got money or not. You still have to fill in generally the same boxes, and add this box to that, multiply by the value in box H, subtract the total from boxes I, J and K and put the result in box Q etc etc... an utter bloody pain. As for company accounts, HMRC are super-picky about how your submission is formatted. They fine you for getting it wrong and they fine you if it's late. You don't have to hire an accountant, but you really, really should. The firm I use save me a fortune in corporation tax. £70/month for an accountant is really good. Mine is £100/month (like I said, including the personal tax return). |
