WTF @ Microsoft! Windows 10 upgrade now has an countdown!

I relented and installed Win10 on my Win8.1 laptop. Actually pretty good so far. Though, I don't like the way they've forced Windows 10 on everybody, then had the audacity to bleat about how many people are using Windows 10.

Probably millions of those people just had automatic updates on and didn't get a say in the matter.

Yeah, when Apple release a new iOS/MacOS, they don't force-install it, yet a huge percentage of users willingly install it.
That's mostly because every iOS/MacOS update actually contains something useful, rather than being "Just another update".
Even if it's just one "Extra feature", they typically tend not to do "Update for the sake of update" updates unless there's some giant security risk, or something.

Microsoft need to start adding frills into Windows again. One of the better updates, recently, added coloured borders on windows to signify the active window.. Something minor, but such a change from all the fucking "EVERYTHING IS WHITE!" that is the majority of Win10..
Of course, I'm not happy about "Let's remove all the features, then add them back in one by one to keep Jayenkai happy", either, but if that's all we've got, then that'll have to do.

... and "Cortex is in Windows 10!!" doesn't count, because that's about as useful as throwing a brick at the screen.

Something useful indeed, nearly every update I installed of osX was for bloody raw printer drivers. My mac mini should by not have the best printer compatibility in the world!

Though, lets not forget, for the privilege of using OSX in the first place, they do indeed force you to buy their hardware at over inflated prices.

Which is worse?

That picture fills me with sadness, just shove Windows 10 down everyones throats. It looks like a scammy design on there also.

I'll be keeping away from it until at least 2020 hopefully.

Windows 7 will do me just fine.

Next step will be "we won't be supporting Win 7/8/8.1 any more. We don't need to, because everyone's upgraded to Win10 and they're all very happy and nobody ever complains, and we don't use Twitter so we don't notice all the rants that Jayenkai posts."

They'll probably just do what mobile phone companies do with their software - gradually add covert crippleware to force people to upgrade.

Probably. I mean, they've been pretty forceful with their uprading so far, I doubt that's gonna change.

Don't get me wrong I actually do like Windows 10, I've got it on my new laptop... but my main development box is running Windows 8.1 and I'm right in the middle of a project which I dont want Windows to mess up.

When I build my new PC this year some time, it'll be running Windows 10...

But the very aggressive upgrade stragey by Microsoft is very worrying.
