So... The keyboard's fake?
....
Why bother at all, then?

I'm not sure if any of those games are anywhere the "best", either. One or two possibly, but mostly, not.

If the keyboard was real, i'd consider it, but as it seems to not be, no way.

No Uridium. No deal

They've got ParaDroid and Gribbly's Day Out, why not Braybrook's absolute finest hour?

Hmmm... It says on the box that 64 games are included, but only shows 40 (and most of those aren't the best), so the other 24 must be really shite.

I'm REALLY surprised that Heartland and Nodes of Yesod are on there - those games are fiercely protected by their owner.

I dunno. I get the feeling that if it were the previous C64-TV-Doohickey company doing this, they'd've made that keyboard work!!

This feels like it's going to be no more than an emulator, a Rasp-Pi, and a case...
I'm not 100% sure why I'm thinking that, but I just can't shake it..

If you're going to do that, might as well get a fullsize DOA C64, rip the innards out and stick a Pi in that. Plenty of nice, flat bits to cut new holes for USB ports and whatnot.

I honestly don't get these micro-replica computer/consoles. Especially one that has a keyboard that doesn't do anything.

Amiga is on the mini also :

Curious if it will be any good.

I still like the Armiga form factor.

If I didn’t still have a working A600, I’d’ve bought one of those a long time ago!

Yet another new Amiga? Stick a Ferrari badge on a cowpat, and it's still a cowpat.

The Amiga as we knew and loved it, is dead. It's time folks stopped bastardizing the name. Likewise Atari.

I did have my eye on this, Linkage!, until I saw the f'ing pricetag. What I wanna know is what happened to the initial price of £150 - £170 when it was still in the kickstarter stage.

They’re selling the TheC64 joystick separately. Although it’s currently out of stock on Amazon.

Can a keyboard be plugged in to that, for indie devs I mean, or is it strictly just a games console?

|update| -=-=- |update|
And can you just type straight at the Ready prompt like a classic C64?

Yeah, you can plug in a USB keyboard to the C64 mini. You can also add disk images via a USB drive, but it's currently limited to one disk only, and it acts like a real C64 disk, so.. slow loading!!!
The 8bit guy video shows all this, btw. He's quite in-depth.
The only thing he doesn’t say is whether the joystick is crappy contacts, or proper micro switches..

.d64 image:
You can use quick save feature to save the .d64 image, so next time it loads faster, but there are only 4 slots for this.

Still say it is easier to just download an emulator.

I think, looking at peoples experience with joysticks, that individual drivers need to be written for every single one.

I read someone posting that if you load a game from the menu first the fastloader wil be activated.

It looks more to me that it uses a save state for each games title screen, then it's back to emulated disk loading after that point.
