Intellivision Amico

Apparently their "big announcement" will be happening tomorrow. Expect about 20 or so games to be announced.

..
still not happy about that "one big circular doohickey" control scheme, and any company that has to make "OMG!LEDs!!" into a selling point is obviously clutching at straws, but...
Let's see where it goes, eh?

Reminds me of a foot spa..

For all the shit the new Intellivision is taking, I'd much rather put money in their house than the new Atari. We'll see.

Can't pre-order in the UK anyway so it'll be interesting to see the unbiased reviews come in later this year.

My wife had an Intellivsion. I played many games on it. The only one that was any good was Burger Time and that was ruined by the God-Awful controllers. They were fecking shit. And I liked the Jaguar controllers!

I see both the new Intellivision and the Atari as a waste of time and money. And I likely won't invest either into either, despite my love of weird handheld machines; I own (and developerd for) 2 GP2Xs, a Wiz, Caanoo and a Pandora.

I'm interested to see all the news, but probably not something I'll buy. I like the idea of old systems being reinvented, but at this point we all know than and android box with an emulator bundled with it wont sell very well. As for the original games being remade, most people will never hav heard of them anyway so they have a limited nostalgia value.

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I still love to hear and read about these machines (and any other gaming tech), but that's about as far as I'll go, unless they truly blow my socks off with something completely unexpected.

Delayed (due to Corona-related issues) until April 2021
The games look a mixed bag, but if I were to give them any specific overall "vibe", it would be Flash Games...
Not that that's a bad thing. I loved a ton of flash games over the years, and to have a console dedicated to that type of game. Might work out.
Maybe..?
Especially with two player as a prime target.

The one issue I had, and it's more of a personal gripe than anything.
Some of the graphics on a lot of the games looked very much like "the programmer is trying too hard not to make it look like programmer art, but it definitely is"...
D'you remember in the early 2000s when every retro remake game got a "sheen" that didn't quite look right? That sort of thing. In abundance.

Bleurgh..

But, yeah, looks like it may be fun.
Maybe..

I was excited to see where this went, but personally I thought the games looked shite! Definitely no system sellers there.
