They are connecting my home to fiber. 55Euro a/m for 500/500 connection. 10 times the speed of what I have now for 45 euro a/m. Interesting.

I did not sign for the fiber yet. Only the cables are going to be connected.

Wowie, 500 both ways! Living the dream!!

My upload is the one biggest issue I have. I mean, it's not "an issue" for me, but then I rarely upload anything significantly large. A YouTube trailer taking 10 minutes is ..
Meh. Could be quicker. I can live.
But if I had the option, then, hell yeah! Gimme the upload!!!

I get 60-80 download and 20 upload; this is normal copper wire, about 100 yards from the box, not fibre.

Less than £20 p/m via BT.

Mine is supposed to be Virgin Media 100M Fibre Broadband, there is co-ax cable connecting my router.

There is for mine, too.
Fibre to the green box at the end of the street, then co-ax to the houses.

I'm happily getting my 100Mbps.
The speed of your network is down to how well your original cable network company did their job, before Virgin/NTL/Telewest/etc bought it all up piece by piece.
I think I'm probably in one of the best-laid areas, 'cos my problems have been amazingly minimal.

The competitor is installing new cables also. These in the big cities first. In the next couple of years speeds of 10gb/1gb should be possible. The price of a 1gb service would cost 10 euro a month they say. I might actually be paying less for this than i am now for a slow 50/50 connection.

But Imagine downloading with 1000 mb a second!

Woohoo!!!!!

.. of course, the only thing that'll realistically mean, is they'll be able to stream more adverts in Youtube..

I was reading about some kind of spatial technique with which they were playing I think it was Eve online with 10.000 players all fighting at the same time. Those kinds of things wil be more possible with faster speeds.

Also I had to wait for a day to download eso. I have not updated this game in a long time since the updates take a long time also.
