Been watching som inspector gadget today. It's a bit crap. 'in my day' Claw had better plans and the chief only got blown up once per episode.

It's alarming how many "kids" cartoons are now aimed at, like, 5 years olds... I remember exactly when this happened, too. CiTV cancelled shows like Bad Influence and Nightmare, because, for some bizarre reason, the idea of "Kids" was suddenly half the age it was the week before.

"Grown up kids" were being catered for by cable channels like Trouble and such, but in the interim, they've all disappeared and nothing's taken it's place.

Instead, teens are left in this bizarre limbo world, where barely any TV content works for them, and that's where YouTube and Twitch took over.

Telly needs to give a shit about teens again.

When those 3d rendered shows started to be the only thing out there I kind of lost interest. Things like the original Transformers, Spiderman, X-men were great back then. 3d just does not look impressive.

What is this...the telly you speak of?

My kids are more into youtube, twitch, netflix, etc than tv channels, which is a tough battle sometimes, I'm happy for them to have some time playing games on the puters but really love taking them out and about instead where possible. If we're stuck indoors then I've been getting them more and more into cooking and classic games of chesse, checkers, etc. The PS4 does get a fair amount of use now, the OUYA, oddly enough, is still popular over here also.

Creativity wins over gaming, I reckon. I've played my fair share of games, but.. I've always had more making them.
If not coding, then crafting, art, music.. anything productive, really.
But I'm no parent, so wouldn't even begin to know how to get kids into these kinds of things.

... maybe just leave a trumpet lying on the coffee table and see if anything happens

Agreed, Layla has taken to Photoshop a lot recently after I'd shown her the ropes of it, she's been making some nice stuff which, of course has to get printed out

T-Bob likes getting into his vidfeo editing but wnts a more beefy PC over here for it soooo....

Mac Mini M1's are .. relatively cheap. 'Ish.. £700. But compare that to a beefy PC and...?
Maybe..!?

Or an iPad.
Either one with Luma Fusion, since the Mac M1 can handle it superbly.

(He says, trying not to be an Apple fanboy, but failing quite spectacularly)
