Socoder -> Off Topic -> New Rule

Right, It's going to have to be put in writing, because this is starting to irritate me quite a bit.

1. Showcases
2. Wed Workshop Entries
3. Articles + Tutorials
4. Code Snippets
5. Campfire Projects
6. Forum Topics that are not in the "Off Topic" section.

From here on, going "Off Topic" in any of those sections is out of bounds.

Feel free to do it in Blogs unless otherwise asked by the poster.
Feel free to do it in the Off Topic section where it says "Off Topic"
But the next time I see people randomly spouting random garbage and having stupid "You Tube" wars in the middle of someone's showcase...

I'm deleting them.

I completely agree and was thinking of mailing you about it. I find it annoying to suddenly see something completely irrelevant posted in the middle of a topic.

Agreed, we need this rule.

Aye,

I'm sorry Instinct, for putting crap in your link discussion.
And I'm sorry to everyone else for it being there.

mer? this was in my thread? I go to sleep for only 8 hours and this is what happens while I'm away! I guess I'm going to just have to sacrifice my sleep!

But in all seriousness, I feel like the YouTube embedding feature has been a bit abused unfortunately. Every reply doesn't have to include a video accompany.

Cool. A much needed rule I think.

Also, didn't the showcase author have the ability to delete comments on his/her showcase? I think we were able to do that at one point. Not sure.

That was on... umm.. BC/CW, maybe both!
Do you think that's a needed feature?

I'd have to tweak the deletion code for comments, since it's currently in the Edit Comment area, but I could do it quite easily I think.

Ah I see. lol.
Umm, I think it was a feature best left out tbh. I'll trust your judgement if ever the situation arises in one of my showcases (if I ever make one!) and you can nuke it for me

I often get SoCoder and Coders Workshop's showcases mixed up too. Like I used to like how a showcase could be kinda secret, until you published it.

Instinct Every reply doesn't have to include a video accompany.

What if I recorded my replies and put them onto YouTube? Could I have a video embedded in all my posts (if they were real replies)? Perhaps with someone naked hidden in a reflection somewhere in the background.

hahaha, I meant an irrelivant video accompany; and that aside having all those youtube windows lags the page. Although, that would be amusing if you did that
