At the end of last year I did a small survey to see what everyone thought of the site, and what additions could be made.
For those who are interested, it's here, and some of you got a badge for filling it in.

Want another badge!?
Do we still use the badges?
What's the point!!!

Anyway, answer the following...

And, again, use the little white "Unformat" icon so you can copy+paste the survey questions nicely, with the questions in bold, and your answers in plain text.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

5. What new features can you think of?

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!

9. Add any other comments below..

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
The forum, and occasionally the Blog.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
That MudChat kinda sucks. Come on, Jay! You can do better than that!

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Maybe. But a better idea would be to sit down for a couple of hours, and make a crapload of badges, then start giving them out like you intended.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
The Latest Comments thing seems to be getting rather small.
*Goes to fix it.*
Much better.

5. What new features can you think of?
"Lists" : A set of lists that can be added to, then downloaded as Data.
"Quiz List" : A set of Questions and Answers that can be added to, then also downloaded as Data. Possibly fits into the lists section.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
If I knew that, people would already be here!

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Use that new Flash thingy you bought the other week, and make something nice and flashy with it.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
If you mess up the BBCode, you edit your post.. It's not that hard, is it?!

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Forum and MudChat.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
The general design. Even now I feel quite lost whilst navigating the site. Like how to find all the stuff I've posted, searching through posts and messaging people can be awkward. I always have to remember how I did it last time, which can be quite tiring.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Of course it didn't, you stopped making them!

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
Just make things a little more obvious. But also since you changed the themes many of the old stuff has been missing. The banners for each section of the forum used to come in different colours for each category, and I couldn't see the ones I used to have. You've also gotten rid of the little cubes for showing peoples time at the top.

5. What new features can you think of?
More showcase stuff, like hiding it. A lens flare generator would be nice too.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
Google ads or murder. Maybe if we tried to think of a new selling point, like how UK Resistance did their 'Europe at War' season. Then we'd get more people.

No matter what people thought about CW being terrible, at least it had plenty of people.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Make it into that visual Dune style adventure chat room that I suggested. That'd be so cool. If you did it like a big adventure where people could log in and chat and go around and solve stuff as they were chatting it'd be a big selling point for the site.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
Then add them. But I always found them pointless too.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Mainly the forums, and just reading them. If it counts, i use the main page sidebars a lot, to see whats new.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
Yep, the mudchat is a bit simple, I'd love to see that made better. Also, I think the PM system is a bit to simple, maybe it could be made more like a mail inbox, so you have a trash, folders etc...

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Nah, it does no harm, and it can always be put into use again (e.g., can we have a badge for completing this )

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
Not really, though the tings which need improving could probably be included here.

5. What new features can you think of?
Maybe, instead of just blogs, we can host a small website about our projects... Maybe a subdomain for us (like what you have at the moment with jayenkai.socoder.net)

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
We could invite friends, get google ads...

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Add graphics, maybe an isometric view like habbo, or even 3d

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
Yes, that would be good as I often find it useful

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
-the forum, I check it often, however I don't usually say much, unless it is blitzbasic related.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
-this site is really good, I couldn't think of any improvements.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
-maybe it didn't, but does it bother anybody ? I think it's cool if someone has a badge

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
-nope

5. What new features can you think of?
-none really

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
-First of all, appreciate the people that are here. it might not be a big group, but they are loyal. So the question would be how to attract 'more people'
-Second, i would have a survey about why people come here in the first place, and a 'brainstorm' topic about what can be done to attract more people. Maybe a good question is: where do other sites get their people from ?

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
-the mudchat is a nice feature and it would be nice to finish it. But then again, if nobody uses it, you might be doing work for nothing.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
-hmm, doesn't sound like an important feature

Diablos - you can change those clocks, and for that matter everything! Go to Site Theme to make individual tweaks, or go to the bottom left of the page, and press 'Shroom Coder' under 'Quick Themes' .

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
The forum.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
Well... I guess the MudChat could do with some work...

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
No! The Badges are great, you just stopped giving them out. Make some more, and give em out. On the subject of badges, the part under the username where it says the number of badges should not include reds, or if it does then include them seperately, because otherwise it makes it look like you've done more good.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
Well - I seem to have pointed all those out to you in my 'Yet Another Glitch' PMs.

5. What new features can you think of?
'The following users are celebrating their birthday...' Of course, that could be entirely optional (you could opt out in your profile), but it's the best I can come up with!

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
Well, we could, erm... advertise to people... or, erm... I don't know, really. Word of mouth?

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Start again with that Flash thing you mentioned. That would make it look better!

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
I don't use em either...

In the format of User / Question #

Diablo #2 : Damn, I keep forgetting I added this!!
To quickly find the last posts you've made, click the More links at the bottom of the 3 "Latest" boxes. In there is a list of "Your latest posts that have had replies.", each with a link to the topic in question.
To find the rest of your stuff, you can use the "More of X's stuff" inside your Profile/Blog/Whatever.

Diablo #4 : The 2 things you asked for a most definately missing.. You could've said earlier! I'll make an extra theme and add those back.

Diablo #5 : "More showcase stuff, like hiding it."
I don't know what that means..!

Diablo #6 : "Like how UK Resistance did their 'Europe at War' season."
So, what, do a "CodeWars : Socoder Vs Devcrunch!" season? I really don't think that'd help!

Mad Prof #2 : The "Shared" nature of the PM system makes it a little hard to do deleting. If you delete a PM, the other person might not. If they then reply to that PM, you won't recieve it, since it's already been deleted on your side.

Mad Prof #3 : You'll get a badge for completing this.

Mad Prof #5 : Subdomains.. I don't think I have an unlimited number available, but.. I think I can do a weird tweaky thing using the 404 system. I might give that a go, later.
eg, if you try going to Socoder.net/TheMadProff, it returns you to the site, since the site is set up as the 404 page. So.. That might be possible. |edit| Yes, it is, but it's not quite perfect.. |edit| |update| Now works as it should, but uses a minor redirection to do it. |update|

Mad Prof #9 : No!

Bram #6 : "more people" : Oh, now you're just being picky!
I guess having a great big proper compo would bring a few people here, but.. I dunno.. Seems a bit too generic for my liking! Plus, some people would only register to enter the compo, then leave. That'd annoy me!

Shroom #5 : Of course! Birthdays! I keep meaning to add that, then forget 2 seconds later!

In General

I'll play with flash a bit, and see what I can come up with for a MudChat thing. I'm not sure how do-able it all is, but it's definately something I'd like to try fiddling with.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Forum.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
mudchat

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Well badges should really be for public display. If you could make nice little 16x16 icon badges like famfamfam.com icons and stick em under the avatar then I think it'll be more interesting.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

nope.

5. What new features can you think of?
none at the moment. Do we need any more?

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
I could post some of the showcases on here onto indygamer.blogspot.com but I'd have to find a really cool one first. Other than that, I think if you dedicated the site to serve one particular subject/product/service.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Well problem is that nobody uses it. I was fine the last time I was on. If you do start with something else a shoutbox thingy on the front page usually gets people talking.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
Yes.

9. Add any other comments below..
Overall the site does do what it was supposed to do so I can't fault you on that.
A little tighter moderation here and there would help.
I guess what you really need to encourage is member contribution like how you added showcase of the week, the more content we have, I believe the more reason people will come.
Also dammit, I lost my forum panels I sent you, umm, can i have a copy lol? They were kickass...

ps. I haven't read any of the other comments yet as not to influence my reply. Apologies if I am repeating anything that's already been said. I will read them now.

Regarding DD #5,
I think he means the choice to save showcases as drafts with the option to publish later.
Or remove a showcase from the showcase list but not to delete it.

Essentially a "IsViewable" flag for showcases.

Purpose: hosting problems, borked links, showcase no longer available etc.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Mud Chat, commenting on Blog/Showcases, and in the Forum.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
Mud Chat, it still always feels a little glitchy to me.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Eh, I've got 3 so I think they're alright!

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
The who's online list in the Mud Chat

5. What new features can you think of?
Widgets might be cool, but by the same token we wouldn't want the site to get spammed by everyone's widgets.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
- Request people to post links here on their own sites and in their signatures on other sites
- Talk to idigicon about getting BC & CW to point to here (I think it may as well)
- Post a news item on BB.com (Although this site has definately proven to move beyond Blitz)
|edit| - Maybe we could do a SoCoder button for people to put on their sites like we did at CW |edit|

The only other place I visit regularly aside from my own site to check on it is www.theCodeProject.com, but there I'm just browsing their article database (which is huge)

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Whatever is done it would be nice to have *something* working that we could all chat in. setting up an IRC channel while we're figuring everything out might be a good idea.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
Might be a good idea

Diablo #5 : "More showcase stuff, like hiding it."
I don't know what that means..!

He means like how at CW you could choose to "hide" your showcase before you launched it, so you could be working on it without people flooding in to see it yet.

|edit| Jay I also like your idea of the quizes, we could do a weekly poll or something on the front page. Doesn't have to be serious all the time, could be silly sometimes |edit|

Took a second of packing (yeay holidays!), to come up with some ideas.

In regards to the subdomain thing, this thing on .htaccess files might help - "virtual" subdomains, i.e. unlimited! You have to be good at RegExpressions though (I hate them!)

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

Forum and Showcase I suppose. Plus filling up the link archive.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?

I like the site

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!

No way - because I'm winning

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

Uh, the news on the front page - I don't know where to read previous posts. I can only see the first few.

5. What new features can you think of?

You thought about a request/exchange "marketplace" for requesting models/art, and some people supplying, etc.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?

In regards to advertising, etc, I think SoCoder needs a proper logo decided on that can be used to create a brand that can be recognisable. Then, you stick it on t-shirts, stickers, hoodies, etc, with funny nerd-slogans and we wear them. Hey, I have a Firefox shirt, I'd buy a SoCoder one!

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?

I dunno. Could you nick an open source one?

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!

Wouldn't mind a preview showcase or hiding of showcase.

Shroom, I know you can change themes. The point is that certain theme aspects I used to have are now missing. Namely the cube shaped timers for members at the top.

Jay, yes I mean being able to save it as a draft. The UK Resistance thing is just an example of a season they did which dramatically boosted the people visiting. I am not suggesting copying that exact season, just the idea that you could try thinking of a selling point you run with for a month or two.

Also, I think subdomain is a great idea. It'd be so cool if I could tell people to go to socoder.net/diablosdevil and they would see my blog, showcases and articles all listed. Sorta like MySpace, but without everyone pretending to be goths.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
The forum, and I want to use the MudChat more, but I keep forgetting Could you make it stand out a bit more, maybe adding a big link on the front page or something that makes it more noticeable.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
What I said above, nothing else really.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Seems like a lot of unnecessary work to me, I don't think you should bother.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
I don't know if the chat is just empty or if it's a bug

5. What new features can you think of?
Some small space, just a few megabytes where you can upload things.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
Advertising in signatures on other forums should help a little, I think.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
Just a chat is enough, turning it into a graphical browser MMORPG seems a bit ambitious to me.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
Yes, add them, they don't harm anyone and some people like it. I use it occasionally on other sites.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

Forum - mainly reading, and the side navigation bits

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?

The Wednesday Workshop page, I'd have the rules at the top rather than the bottom. Also possibly the pm system, it would be nice if it were a bit like googlemail for following the conversations.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!

NO don't scrap it I don't have a badge yet

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

Nope seems ok to me

5. What new features can you think of?

Can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?

Maybe a standardised logo we could put in our sigs on other sites we use.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?

Not sure how it was planned to be so I cant really comment

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!

I would like this feature, I post rarely on forums and can never remember the bbcode stuff so I find previews quite useful.

OK then, the next batch..

Svrman #3 : I'm trying to avoid having any additional icons around the avatar area. Keep it simple. I dunno. Give me a couple of weeks, and I'll try to resurrect the whole idea. Then we'll see if we need extra icons or not.

Svrman #6 : I think that all our interesting showcases are already AT indygamer! And, I think we're here as a general all-round community, really, so limiting ourselves to one type of language/game type would kinda defeat the purpose.

Svrman #7 : A shoutbox is a nice idea, but the frontpage is a little crowded, to be honest!

Svrman #9 : Svrman's Panels

Svrman + / DD #5 : "IsViewable" Aaah, I see.. OK, I'll see what I can do about that. Posts do have a "Hid" variable already, so it shouldn't be too hard to enable that.

Instinct #4 : The "Who's online in the Mudchat" thing was "fixed" like that because you logged in and left your system running all day!

Instinct #5 : I don't get what the fascination is with "Widgets" lately. They're just stupid usually-flash-based things that sit about doing nothing particularly useful.
Unless you can think of a REAL use?

Instinct #6 : I'm not going to meither people to add links to their own sites. But I think a decent number of people who are here already have done! Idigicon seem to be ignoring all my emails.. Posting "My Forum! See! Happy!!" type posts as "News" at BB.com seems really kinda cheap, to me.. And, quite frankly, I used to hate people posting those types of links over at CW.com. Here, I don't mind it as much, since I'm trying to look like a good admin who doesn't threaten to ban people for posting links to forums when the person he's replying to had just asked for that specific type of forum.. Damn.. I almost made it through a whole week without moaning about DevCrunch!

Instinct #7 : If I do decide to rewrite from scratch, I'll leave the current MudChat intact, so no need to worry.

HoboBen #4 : Why would anyone want to read Old News? OK, I'll do something about that.

HoboBen #5 : Yeah the "Services" code is still in bits in the script. I should probably finish that off, sometime!

HoboBen #6 : A "Proper" logo! Whaaaa....!!!

HoboBen #7 : I could, I suppose, but I'd like to make my own!

Phoenix #1 : Again, the frontpage is kinda cluttered a bit. Adding an extra big link might very well cause it to collapse under the weight of itself!

Phoenix #4 : It's probably empty... There are no bugs at all.. *cough*

Phoenix #5 : Aaah, the upload thing. If I can find a nice safe way to do it all, I'll do it. Otherwise, better to be safe than sorry, really.

Phoenix #7 : A year ago I never considered coding any of this... It was 10,000% too ambitious a project. I managed it! I can manage a fancy-pants chatroom!!!

Phoenix #8 : ALRIGHT!!! I'll add the stupid previews!

MikeT #2 : Yeah, I should probably neaten up that frontpage.. Getting a bit big, really!

MikeT #9 : You're welcome!

Firemaker #2 : Threaded? Threaded PM's!!? The Forum isn't even Threaded! Deleting messages was removed due to the previously mentioned issues.

Firemaker #5 : Karma systems are abused by idiots, and never used for their intended purpose. I hate the things!

Firemaker #6 : You know what I really hate.. Competitions where they make you stick a giant splash screen on the front of your game, thereby branding it for the rest of time.
Urgh...
If people want to add "Socoder.net" to their games, then let it be their own choice.

Firemaker #7 : /me - Works.. File sending - Save file somewhere, send URL.. PM's - Use PM's! Font colors - Use [color]BBCode[/color]

In General
Looks like I'm going to be doing a Preview button, for people who can't remember BBCode!!

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

The forum, showcase, and blog occasionally.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?

I'm happy with it all at the moment.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!

Well, we never really gave it a chance. The only badges that we have are "first..." badges and survey badges. Once the first people take the "first..." badges, nobody can get them anymore. So, we need some badges that are always available.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

...Never really got the MUD part to stay on the MUD chat.

5. What new features can you think of?

Good god...this site has so many features. I'll have to get back to you on that one.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?

Stick a nice "Special Thanks to Socoder.net" in your game credits. That's what I've done in my current projects (now I just need to finish them). I've also linked to the site through facebook. People can do the same on theirs, or myspace, or personal website, or whatever.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?

I think just a normal chat will be fine. I think the reason there's nobody in it is because they think it's broken all the time.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!

Nah, there's always the edit button if you did something wrong.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?

The forum and the side bars.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?

None that I can think of currently.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!

Keep them, and, like Blanko said, create badges that aren't one-time-only.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?

Nope.

5. What new features can you think of?

It has plenty of features already.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?

It will spread with time. BC didn't become popular in an instant, and neither will Socoder. Although, the "socoder.net" in the credits isn't a bad idea, provided people will actually play your game.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?

IRC, anyone?

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!

A preview button would be nice... I use them on occasion at certain forums.

Socoder needs real competitions. With prizes.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Unquestionably, the forum. I also read the blogs and links, although I haven't posted any myself (yet).

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
It's a really, really minor quibble, but would also like to see the "Time Offset" set against GMT rather than... wherever it is now. I'm normally -4 or -5 GMT, but offset from the time zone box here, I'm +3!

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
To be perfectly honest, I've stolen your badges idea in one of my current games for player achievements, so I obviously think there is at least some potential in the idea. I think that as it stands, the major problem with badges is that most of them are for one-time events and that apart from being in the right place at the right time, there are very few ways of owning them (minus the WW badges). Since I understand you don't want to open up the can of spam that would ensue for badges like post count or showcase count (and I wouldn't want to either), it might be an option to have badges like "Quality Showcase" for somebody that posted a showcase that received a certain number of votes over a certain score, as that would at least require co-conspirators to cheat at, which makes spamming harder. Other badges could be similarly "achievement" based - "Knows Several Languages" for posting entries in multiple languages? Etc. I don't really have a huge set of feasible ideas, really.

I would also remove the huge list of badges that it is no longer possible to obtain from the badges page if you don't have them, but keep the '?' if it's still possible to get them.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
I've never seen anyone else in the MudChat, ever, and as /help just echos as if I had said it, I can't tell if there's any reason to use it instead of IRC -- if not, I would just remove it. Browser-based chats displease me in general, though.

5. What new features can you think of?
I'd like the option to disable viewing other users' signatures -- if it exists, I can't find it, and if I really want to see a siggy, I can open their profile.

'Tagging' functionality for blogs, snippets, and showcases would be really handy as well.

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
I think this really depends on the site's users -- we must start being awesome and posting useful content.

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
What was the way it was planned? Personally, I'm biased against browser-based chat, but I'm open to anything sufficiently awesome.

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
My kind has already won.

1. Which of the sites features do you use most often?
Forum... that's about it, really. I enjoy reading people's blogs though.

2. Which of the sites features do you think should be improved?
None, really. The bits I use work really well.

3. Should I just scrap the whole "Badges" thing? It never really took off, did it!
Oh? Those things? I keep forgetting they exist.

4. Is there anything on the site that doesn't do what you expect it to do, and that you'd like fixed?
It's all very logical, if that's what you mean.

5. What new features can you think of?
Using IRC?

6. Without resorting to spamming the hell out of the net, what methods could we use to actually get people here?
All advertising is spamming. If you build it, they will come (eventually).

7. What should I do with the MudChat? Finish it off the way it was planned, or just start from scratch with something else?
IRC? No?

8. In the last survey, people seemed to want a "Preview" for replies. Is that still something you'd want? I never used them, to be honest, but if others still want them then I should probably add them!
I never use it... but I'm sure it could be helpful. Though it's already here... so there we go.
