I don't think I've actually ever used Photoshop...!
I've always been a Paintshop user, though nowadays I tend to use Pixelmator Pro on the Mac.

Is Paintshop good mate?

Not sure, it's just what I started using back around 2000-or-so, and grew comfortable with.
I think that's the most important part of.. well, all the tools we use, really.
The best tool is the one that you can create a hundred or so wonderful things with!

I'd like to use Photoshop and Illustrator -- I'd even pay! But I use it so rarely that a monthly subscription is exorbitant if I only need it for half a day every few months. Wish I could pay hourly instead!

I love me some Photoshop, Flash and well, maybe a couple other bits, those are my main squeezes.

But, I bought the CS3 Suite many, many moons ago and, it still does all the jobs I need it for to this day.

Sadly, the activation servers have been stopped for this version a long time ago, so I'll have to either get the more recent freemium version or use a "FREE" Corporate edition which doesn't reqiure the activation service.

I'll continue to avoid the subscription services model for software as long as possible, after all, I own the copy.

I still use paintshop pro 7, later versions changed the interface to be more of a 'photoshop' style, which I truely hated with every fibre of my being.

They also started bundling other stuff shortly after 7. I remember I started on an earlier version but can't remember which. I still have some disks with it on, but 7 was my favourite as it also came with the animator program for Guh-IF's

I've not used it for some time, I got into Photoshop in the mid 1990's via work and was able to get an upgrade version to CS5 which I still use today.

Will not buy into renting.

During the early days of Win10, my old Paintshop Pro 7 started glitching out, so I decided to go crazy and splash out on a copy of PaintShop Pro 17! Crikey!!!

The interface was once again shuffled about, and all the keyboard shortcuts had changed.
But, functionally... honestly, I could barely find anything new!
A couple of new presets, and a new select tool, but,.
*shrugs*

Considering it was TEN versions later, I really expected something fairly major, but.
Nope..
They just shuffle the UI each year and charge you an arm and a leg for the privilege.

I used to love PSP5 For pixel stuff back in 2000. I could probably make a version of it now if I felt like it.

I bet there's a whole bunch of people who would appreciate something like that!
