DallE 3

Apparently, if you use the Bing Image Create, either via the site, or by asking Bing Chat to draw something, there's a fairly high probability that it's now using DallE 3.

It's getting absolutely hammered again, though, because Matt Wolfe just mentioned it in a video, so everyone's trying to use it all at the same time!!

But is it usable for game developers? Pixel art had not been good yet. Animations?

Dunno. Haven't got anything out of it, yet

If you don't ask for Bitmap Brothers, you don't get Bitmap Brothers...

You'd still have to draw all the inbetween frames, but if you need a starting point, this is pretty fucking awesome..

I still have that Spriter tool used to animate sprites from a humble bundle. That might be useful for these outputs.
Mon, 02 Oct 2023, 09:25
Jayenkai
Yeah, you need to work to get from the output to something properly useable. Strip out the backgrounds, clean up the odd pixels, things like that.
But it's definitely something that'll poke you in the right direction.

hmmm.... I wonder if it knows who Bill & Ted were...

|edit| Nope....

But if you describe the characters...

Bit of a size difference between them, there

They're likely blocking copyrighted content, bit by bit. That Popeye is pretty damn spot on.

Popeye copyright expired in 2009 in Europe it says on google. So they left in anything fallen out of copyright.

Not to say it wil get copyrighted again with some kind of pressure

I have tried and not remotely had something usable for any type of game. Amazing what you are getting generated. I need to try and find a tutorial.

Everything I've got out of it has needed significantly redrawn. I've learned to ask for a spritesheet, then leave it on one side of the screen, whilst using it as a guide for drawing my own reinterpretation of it on the left.
The image above is definitely not useable as-is. It's not a Spritesheet, for starters, and is more an ingame image. But if I redrew it in my own specific style, I'd grab Bill's arms and legs, split them into their own sprites, redraw his head (and likely result in it not looking like Bill) and then stitch them all back together ingame.
You just have to work with it, rather than let it do everything for you.

I have tried the exact same prompts you used and ended up with something not even remotely close to what you did.

Using the Bing/DallE3 engine, it works almost flawlessly every time! I wonder if your version of Bing is still reverting to DallE2..? Might need you to sign in with an account, and all that bobbins.

Your prompt:

My results:

Looks like a piece of urban folk art

Account and bobbins? Since Ole' Kuron is going to be actively developing again (or trying to), I am in the middle of reinstalling all my Windows systems and getting Windows fully updated on one of them. Will set up an account. Have not had a MSN account since the 90s.

That is awesome and makes usable artwork. Yes it may need a bit of tweaking, but far less tweaking than a blank canvas needs.

Image is great, but I will take the XP or even better the Windows 98 version of Paint over any of the modern versions.

MS says the tokens or whatever for copilot are limited, but zero info on how to get more.

Glad I rock whatever version of Windows comes on the lappy, no CoPilot for me. Can use it via Bing search, but that is it. Great for sprites though.

They have a turbo version of these image generators now. They are as quickly generated as that you can type them. If Windows gets all, pay to use this and that. It wil only make me use it less.

I think these things are so populair that there wil be zillions of apps and sites that offer to do this for free(or just a clickcount)
